Job interviews via video are the great exception
This is the result of a representative survey commissioned by the digital association Bitkom among 855 HR managers in companies with three or more employees in Germany.
For example, 89 percent of respondents state that they always arrange personal on-site interviews with candidates. By contrast, only six percent always use telephone interviews with applicants, while 42 percent do not do so at all.
Video calls are used even less frequently, for example via Skype. No HR professional always uses them, and 81 percent never resort to video calls, even though this is often the best option.
With a short video call, you can get a first impression of your counterpart quickly and with little effort. Both sides benefit from this: The recruiter can complete his impressions of the candidate, the applicant has the opportunity to present himself beyond the written documents.
"The reluctance of recruiters is remarkable. For young applicants in particular, video interviews are now taken for granted."
says Bitkom Managing Director Bernhard Rohleder.
