Digital Experience Services in Germany
The new Lünendonk list "Leading providers of digital experience services in Germany" provides the first overview for the German market of which service providers offer a holistic portfolio of services such as digital consulting services, digital agency services and digital technology services. The study looked at those service providers that generate significant revenue in these areas (at least 30 percent or at least 100 million euros in revenue). Lünendonk refers to the combination of these three service categories as Digital Experience Services.
Lünendonk identified more than 30 digital agencies as well as IT and management consultancies that could meet the Lünendonk criteria for a digital experience services (DXS) provider and invited them to participate in the study. As part of a multi-stage evaluation process, 20 service providers met the criteria and were included in the new Lünendonk list.
As a criterion for the ranking, Lünendonk has decided to use the total revenue generated in Germany, as it is not possible to provide a serious presentation of proportional revenue from digital experience services due to different definitions and delimitations of the individual service types.
Nevertheless, the ranking shows which service providers basically have a broad DXS portfolio to support customers in digital experience projects and are active on the market as full-service providers in this market segment. In addition, Lünendonk has shown the share of the individual categories of digital experience services where this was possible on the basis of the information provided by the service providers.
Based on the total revenue criterion, the first half of the ranking is dominated by large consulting and IT service providers. The top 10, for example, includes consulting groups such as Accenture, Cognizant, Deloitte, IBM and PwC, which are now among the world's largest digital agencies with their proportionate digital experience revenues.
Also in the top 10 are Arvato Systems, Adesso and Reply, three IT consultancies that have successively expanded their digital experience portfolio in recent years. The companies ranked 1st to 11th generate only part of their revenues with digital experience services and are therefore classic hybrid service providers.
The second half of the ranking, starting at 12th place, includes companies that originated in the digital agency market and generate most to all of their revenue from digital experience services. With PIA and the Serviceplan subsidiary Plan.net, two digital agencies exceed the 100 million euro mark, followed by the digital agencies Team Neusta, Valtech and Diva-e.
The Lünendonk list "Leading providers of digital experience services in Germany" includes companies that generate at least 60 percent of their revenue from services (e.g., management and IT consultancies, digital agencies) and meet one of the following criteria: At least 30 percent of total revenue was generated in the areas of digital consulting, digital agency services and digital technology services in 2019, or at least 100 million euros in revenue was generated in the areas of digital consulting, digital agency services and digital technology services in Germany in 2019.
