Microsoft is the biggest loser among applicants this year. This is one of the findings of the Graduate Barometer, which the Trendence Institute conducts among around 40,000 students in Germany who are about to graduate.
Microsoft slips from 4th to 7th place in the ranking of the most popular employers for computer scientists. One of the reasons for this development:
"Microsoft is currently primarily looking for economists in Germany and has successfully focused on approaching precisely these talents in recent months"
says Trendence Managing Director Holger Koch.
"Computer scientists were not courted as aggressively as in previous years - and that is noticeable."
Volkswagen and Amazon are also among the losers in the ranking of the most popular employers for IT graduates in 2015. The car manufacturer fell from 11th to 15th place, the online retailer from 13th to 17th.
Thanks to Industry 4.0, the mechanical and plant engineering sector is becoming an increasingly popular employer for IT graduates. The attractiveness of the sector has increased by more than ten percent this year compared to the previous year.
