SAP's Chinese Dream

Alibaba and SAP have been jointly providing enterprise cloud solutions through the Alibaba Cloud for two years to help customers in China keep pace with ever-changing market demands.

Alibaba Cloud is the cloud computing division of Alibaba Group. Effective immediately, the two groups will jointly develop and launch innovations to deliver S/4 Hana Cloud, SAP's flagship product for successful business in the cloud.

Alibaba's cloud customers can also use SAP Cloud Platform to extend their existing enterprise solutions, develop new applications, and integrate third-party technologies.

A growing number of companies in China are moving to S/4 Cloud. SAP Cloud Platform is an open Platform as a Service (PaaS) that provides an in-memory database and a suite of technology and business services to develop, extend and connect enterprise applications.

As an open and flexible application and integration platform, it enables customers to quickly develop new applications and cutting-edge technologies and to personalize and adapt existing ones.

Top 3 IaaS providers

Founded in 2009, Alibaba Cloud is China's largest provider of public cloud services and one of the top three IaaS providers in the world according to Gartner. The partnership extends the global reach of S/4 Hana Cloud and SAP Cloud Platform to all leading public clouds.

Under the agreement, SAP will continue to use Alibaba Cloud technology. In return, Alibaba will use SAP S/4 Hana to drive its own innovations and support its new business model.

Alibaba and SAP are exploring expanded collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and New Retail and New Manufacturing, Alibaba Group's new initiatives.

The collaboration is expected to result in solutions that support companies in their digital transformation and help them increase added value for customers.
