The Barcode-solution consists of two components: the base module and the client for the mobile terminal. The base module is activated by a transport request in the SAPsystem of the customer in its own namespace and provides the framework program, tables for administration, the screen designer and pre-developed Templates available.

Color, touchscreen and graphics as well as font sizes can be easily edited. Templates reduce the programming work.

In addition, the data flow is limited to small amounts of 2.5 to three kilobytes per request. Even with weak Connection there is such a high Performance during the transmission of the scanned Barcodes.

If the employee leaves the area with radio coverage and thus loses the Connection to SAP, the client saves all data and thus enables the picker to continue his work in the warehouse after reconnect.

A smiScan offline client is also available on request. Is the SAP-system is unavailable, for example, due to planned maintenance work, data is temporarily stored on the terminal or an external server and synchronized as soon as SAP is available again.

This means that work can be carried out around the clock in the warehouse, even though SAP is not available.

No middleware necessary

As of version SAP 4.6C, any middleware is no longer required. This means that SAP and the mobile terminal always communicate directly with each other, eliminating the need to purchase additional hardware. In addition, solutions such as goods receipt or inventory extensions were built in.

Smilog offers a test installation for testing the solution: For this purpose, the complete smiScan functionality is installed on the SAP-test system of the customer installed. Together with a rental terminal, which is used for the ready-to-useTest-bundle, you have the possibility to test smiScan for a certain period of time and then decide.
