Asset inventory with SAP integration

In order to optimize its own inventory process in terms of time and to clearly acknowledge the recording of goods, the Vaillant Group, a supplier of heating systems, decided to upgrade to a modern and digital system and commissioned the AutoID specialist Opal to do so.

For the new system, the Vaillant Group wanted complete integration of the inventory process in SAP. In addition, the goods recording process should no longer be done manually, but digitally with handhelds.

For unambiguous recording, all labels were therefore to contain a data matrix code in addition to plain text. The aim was to make the inventory process more transparent and to enable a clean transfer of the AV master data into SAP.

The MDE technology and the handling directly on site were very positively received by the plant employees.

The reconciliation from MDE to SAP involved much less administrative effort and the Vaillant Group received a greatly improved level of transparency and information about all AV goods.

"The SAP add-on in particular convinced us because it was a ready-made solution with which we could immediately work process-wise. In other words, an inventory result comes back and can be checked to see whether a master data change has taken place during the inventory as part of a cost center change. From the SAP add-on, you can also go directly to the SAP asset master record and transfer the changes there. So you don't have to take an intermediate step, but can work through the list in a very user-friendly way".

says the project manager.
