IT spending rises by 1.4 percent
The IT research and consulting company Gartner forecasts global IT spending for 2017 to total USD 3.5 trillion, around 1.4 percent more than in the previous year. Last quarter, the growth forecast was still at 2.7 percent, the main reason for the reduced growth rate being the strong US dollar. "The strong U.S. dollar has reduced the 2017 forecast by about $67 billion," said John-David Lovelock, research vice president at Gartner. "We expect currency fluctuations to be reflected in the 2017 corporate numbers of U.S. multinational IT vendors as well."
