Quantum technology made in Germany
According to a recent study by the digital association Bitkom, Germany can become a leader in the development and application of quantum computing. In a survey of 87 companies that are already active as providers or users of quantum technologies or are planning to do so, five percent of the companies surveyed said that Germany is at the forefront of research into quantum technologies worldwide, while 60 percent see it among the pioneers.
Around a quarter (28%) see Germany as one of the laggards, while only 2% of companies believe that Germany has missed the boat. At the same time, three quarters (77%) believe that Germany can become a global leader in the development and application of quantum technology. "Quantum technologies offer enormous potential applications in a wide range of industries, from optimizing supply chains and drug research to predicting extreme weather events.
Germany has achieved an excellent starting position in quantum technology, and now we must succeed in transforming this into marketable products and solutions," says Bitkom CEO Bernhard Rohleder.
