German Companies Barely Use Their Data
Data is becoming increasingly important for business and society, but the vast majority of German companies continue to underutilize data. Only 6 percent assume that they are fully exploiting the potential of the data available to them. 31% exploit it to a great extent, 42% to a lesser extent and 18% not at all.
In addition, many companies feel thwarted by laws and regulations when handling data. 44% have often had to stop plans for innovations in connection with the use of data due to legal requirements. Accordingly, 51% of companies would like to see less strict rules on data usage. 62% agree with the statement that strict rules are driving innovative data-driven business models out of Germany. Around half are convinced that Germany is missing out on economic opportunities due to strict rules on data usage.
