Walldorf Release Change: SAP Headquarter Conversion
For a long time, the necessary reconstruction work was delayed. Now the time has come. In Walldorf, construction machinery is in full swing and the offices of the SAP Executive Board members at Dietmar-Hopp-Allee 16 are being completely renovated. In the meantime, the relocated employees are mainly residing in the buildings of SAP's German organization or in their home offices. If all goes well, the new office space should be so attractive that a discussion about compulsory attendance or home offices will become obsolete - but that may be wishful thinking.
The reception area with the legendary stone sphere and the VIP elevator directly to the SAP executive area will be redesigned. E3 magazine was unable to find out what will become of the rotating, floating, five-ton granite sphere. As a symbol of the successful R/3 era, however, the fountain belongs to a worthy further use. The fate of the legendary elevator, whose use has always been meticulously monitored, is also still uncertain. The freely accessible "coffee house" on the Executive Level, which can be reached via this elevator, will hopefully be preserved, as it has proven to be a reliable marketplace for news and rumors over the past decades. Planning for the housewarming party is already underway, but the guest list remains top secret, of course.
