SAP-Solution: SAP R/3

In the background, the biggest ERP change in IT history is probably taking place. In contrast, the version change from the mainframe-based SAP R/2 to the three-tier client-server system SAP R/3 was only a mild spring breeze.

The similarities between an S/4 project and the Covid pandemic: On the one hand, they coincide in time, on the other hand, new solution approaches must be found for their management and accompanied by convincing communication.

One of the most important tasks for quality assurance in finance is establishing consistent and reliable processes, especially when switching to new systems such as S/4 Hana.

Correct data is the be-all and end-all for well-functioning processes in a company. Only when its accuracy and timeliness are ensured, it contributes high value for analyses and as a foundation for upcoming decisions as well as optimized customer experiences.

In 2025 at the latest, the time will have come: There will be no more maintenance provided for older SAP releases. Until then, SAP customers should already have migrated to S/4Hana. The corresponding announcement from Walldorf was made in 2015. Even in 2018, the number of companies who have already migrated is still in the single-digit percentage area, and the figure of existing SAP customers who successfully migrate to Hana with the provided standard conversion tools may be just as low. That’s because although they work excellently, they only have advantages for customers who have remained in the SAP standard.

"Digital transformation" has been around for about five years. The first attempts were technology-heavy. In the meantime, pragmatism has set in. There can be no monoculture in the SAP community. SAP's success is based on a unique partner ecosystem, including database providers IBM and Oracle. SAP's existing customers have always preferred the choice.
