"Cloud" is at the top of my hit list of meaningless IT buzzwords. Although perhaps meaningless is a bit harsh. It's more the mechanics of the discourse that lead us to speak about cloud, but often counterproductively.

What do SAP customers do if they don't want to move to the public cloud, but still want the benefits of using cloud technology? The answer is simple: they use the cloud in their own data center with HPE and Intel technology.

Microsoft offers a cloud platform with Azure. Its services can be used in combination with the SAP Cloud Platform and as an infrastructure for operating SAP cloud solutions.

Azure usage is increasing in general and in particular among SAP users. There is a requirement-based IaaS offering of Public Cloud services for SAP deployment.

NetApp as one of the leading providers of data management solutions in the SAP environment offers basically the same solutions for on-premise systems and public cloud instances, for example Microsoft Azure.

Are SolMan 7.2, NetWeaver, Hana 1 & 2, SoH and S/4 already digested, consolidated and customized? Probably not - right?

Alibaba Group and SAP plan to offer S/4 Hana Cloud and SAP Cloud Platform on Alibaba Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) in China. This is intended to make it easier for customers to move to the cloud and help them on their way to becoming a smart enterprise.
