SAP-Solution: Hybris

At the risk of my friends at SAP calling me crazy, I stand by my opinion: cloud computing and ERP don't mix. The first signs: SAP is selling Qualtrics and Oracle wants to move into our data center.

While SAP is on a buying spree, integration is falling by the wayside. But it is more important than ever if the vendor wants to continue to recommend itself as a strategic supplier of business software.

Traditional markets are changing drastically. Only selling products is not enough anymore; service providers with innovative, highly flexible business models are taking over. The biggest driver behind billing innovation is digitalization.

A year ago, at Sapphire 2018 in Orlando, SAP CEO Bill McDermott promised the ultimate CRM suite. If the competition can only produce CRM programs, then it is time for SAP to launch an end-to-end CRM suite.

"We may have taken a year or two too long with the integration," SAP board member Christian Klein told Handelsblatt. For Professor Plattner, the problem was not an issue at this year's Sapphire in Orlando.

Professor Hasso Plattner began his whimsical appearance at Sapphire 2019 in Orlando by saying that his low-cost keynote would now follow SAP CEO Bill McDermott. The day before, McDermott stood on the Sapphire stage and promised the existing customers who had come to the event a fantastic future.

What SAP and its CEO Bill McDermott are currently portraying is the opposite of a positive, euphoric utopia. This dystopia explains SAP's future - with a very bad outcome: The surface is perfectly polished and shines brightly.
