SAP Solution: BRIM

What is cloud computing? A comment I made to the effect that SAP BRIM (Billing and Revenue Management) is a highly complex and successful SAP application, but is only available in its entirety as an on-prem solution, prompted a Microsoft employee to object. Who is right in this case?

With the move to S/4 Hana, Swiss Post has implemented the SAP Billing and Revenue Innovation Management (BRIM) bulk billing solution in areas with high billing volumes to prepare for the future.

The increasing interconnectedness of the digital world is already shaping our future. Companies like Amazon, Google, Uber and others have shown that classic on-prem billing systems have passed their peak.

For many years, the expert opinion was that there can be no alternatives to SAP because no other software provider masters similar business complexity. This statement is still true! But what if SAP's existing customers are themselves the alternative?

An ERP system is a fragile entity that needs a stable platform and excellent informatics to deliver the value users are looking for. SAP S/4 can be a huge boost to innovation if everyone knows what to do.

When Swiss Post started its digital transformation in 2018 and the decision was made to switch to S/4, this also had an impact on logistics. This area combines all logistics services, including the industry solutions EOS and LOGOS.

Since 2017, GTW and SAP have been working hand in hand as a team in the various project phases of the BRIM implementation project. Here, the roles are clearly distributed.

BRIM complements SD with flexible mass data processing of services. However, SAP SD will continue to be used at Swiss Post under S/4.

In the Subscription Economy, it is important that the SAP inventory customer can orchestrate the entire order-to-cash process in a secure and legally compliant manner. The cloud-based Zuora platform is a recognized solution alongside SAP BRIM, Billing and Revenue Innovation Management, from Hybris.

For many platform operators, the pandemic has provided an enormous boost. At Delivery Hero, order volumes in the Asian market rose exorbitantly. One problem here is the exploding volumes of data.

With the right know-how, Billing and Revenue Innovation Management can be used to implement diverse and innovative use cases - across all industries. Or is SAP BRIM just a scalable solution for billing a wide range of services?

Billing has to become even more customer centric. This also includes managing payments for product and service portfolios and integrating partner settlements.
