Mario Günter, Managing Director of Deutschsprachige SAP-Anwendergruppe e. V., explains the reasons for the decision: "The decision to cancel the DSAG Annual Congress was not an easy one for us. Every year, the event is an important meeting point for company and industry representatives to learn about and exchange information on the latest developments and trends in the SAP environment.
As organizers, however, we have a responsibility to our members as well as to all participants and exhibitors, whose commitment and approval make the annual congress one of the largest SAP user meetings in the world. We are taking this into account with our decision. Many DSAG members are still prohibited by the company from traveling for an indefinite period of time, which DSAG has also taken into account in its decision.
Overall, there is a great deal of uncertainty in the community and thus the environment for holding the congress this year is not given. The feedback we have received from DSAG officers, members and partners has strengthened our resolve in this difficult decision. The direct exchange on site and the personal networking make the DSAG Annual Congress something special.
We cannot offer this added value in the same quality with a purely virtual offering. That is why the DSAG Annual Congress will not take place in this form. Nevertheless, we would like to meet the great demand for information from the DSAG community. Therefore, a new format is currently being developed for the same calendar week of the originally planned congress (week 42) for 2020. This is where we are now focusing our efforts for our members."
