Book tips - Agility
AGILITY
Agility is becoming massively more important, especially in the wake of digitization and automation. Companies with traditional, inflexible hierarchies have a harder time aligning themselves with customer needs and wishes. The return on investment is increasingly difficult to generate and competitive disadvantages are the result, which can even threaten the existence of the company. The term agility refers to the ability of a company or organization to adapt actively and flexibly to changing environmental conditions. Particularly in the IT sector and in software development, a number of methods have emerged in recent years that enable those responsible not only to respond early to the challenges of digital transformation, but also to proactively help shape the change.

Determinants of IT agility
Frank Termer examines the phenomenon of IT agility from a holistic perspective for the first time, taking into account the areas of technology, people, organization and processes. In addition, it is made clear that IT agility is to be understood as a behavioral pattern that can only be captured by taking a time dimension into account. Concrete statements are made about determinants and cause-effect relationships that enable the management of IT agility.

Discussion rounds, meetings or project meetings often only produce frustrated participants and no usable insights. The results are usually not within the participants' sphere of influence, people talk past each other, and the discussions go round in circles. Viable solutions can only emerge if the various perspectives and expertise are integrated and utilized. And this is exactly where the task of agile facilitation comes in.
