The new challenges for the S/4 Competence Center

The time is ripe to also address the details of the new framework for S/4 Hana operations. Many customers underestimate the lead time and complexity.

Dear congress participants and E-3 readers! I am very pleased to co-host the Competence Center Summit with E-3 Magazine. Some of you will still remember the legendary CCC forums. Due to the many positive feedbacks from the community, we expect again many interested participants from the D-A-CH area.

Some transformation projects from R/3 via ERP/ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4 Hana are in planning, in the final phase or already completed and many customers are asking themselves how smooth operation can be ensured under the changed conditions.

The planned SAP strategies of "cloud only" and "cloud first" have not caught on with existing customers. The on-prem era will thus end in hybrid system landscapes consisting of existing on-prem systems and the cloud systems and services, possibly even involving hyperscalers. From my point of view as an experienced SAP consultant and IT SAP manager, this requires a well-organized CCC as a virtual organization in which the numerous new tasks resulting from the hybrid system landscapes must be clearly defined.

We plan to focus the congress mainly on organizational and technical operational topics of a CCC. Details can be found in the planned topic blocks at e-3.com/summit-cc can be taken.

Many companies are not even aware of the organizational effects that result from the conversion from on-prem structures to "hybrid" system landscapes. It is only by presenting the prioritized system architectures with the corporate structure in a matrix representation that the necessary change in the CCC organization becomes clear.

SAP's new S/4 Hana developments and techniques have an impact on employee profiles on the one hand and on numerous CCC methods and processes on the other. From my own experience, I can report that there are massive challenges in converting R/3 licenses to S/4 licenses. The integration of Hana, new development platforms (APIs) and development tools (Fiori) also has a massive impact on operations.

I look forward to meeting and discussing with you in Salzburg. Please register now and secure your place and knowledge advantage.

Working on the SAP basis is crucial for successful S/4 conversion.

This gives the Competence Center strategic importance for existing SAP customers. Regardless of the S/4 Hana operating model, topics such as Automation, Monitoring, Security, Application Lifecycle Management and Data Management the basis for S/4 operations.
