Oracle, ASE and now Hana

Database developers and administrators who previously only used Toad with Oracle can now use Toad for SAP Solutions to manage all their SAP databases with a single tool.

This reduces the learning effort that would otherwise be required when integrating an additional database management system. This means that newcomers can get up and running with Hana more quickly.

Toad provides developers and administrators who use several database management systems in an SAP environment with a tool that allows them to work uniformly on different platforms.

By integrating the SAP Hana cockpit, administrators, developers and power users can perform a wide variety of tasks with Toad without having to switch tools.

Toad contains extensive functions for performance optimization and automation of frequently occurring routine tasks. Administrators have a wide range of options for creating SAP Hana objects using Data Definition Language (DDL).

Developers get a powerful editor with functions for code completion and formatting as well as quick access to frequently used queries. Power users benefit from the import and export wizard for various formats.

Cloud-based integration platform

The Dell Boomi Integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) environment links almost any SAP and non-SAP cloud and on-premise applications. Companies can use it to synchronize data between business-critical applications either in their own data center or in the cloud, for example in the form of a Salesforce integration or a Hana Enterprise Cloud.

Another application scenario is the linking of a classic SAP ERP application with the cloud-based Concur Travel and Expense solution. SAP acquired the US company Concur in the fall of 2014.

Existing middleware solutions for data integration and master data management, which are fixed to the company's own data center, can hardly keep pace with the increasingly complex digital business processes, IT infrastructures and the growing number of different data sources.

Fast Hana migration

The migration from an older to a current Oracle database version or the migration from Oracle to SAP ASE, but also a fundamental modernization are regularly recurring topics in SAP environments.

In addition, Hana is also available as a database for the SAP Business Suite, making it relevant for practically all existing customers. As a result, more and more companies are having to consider migrating to Hana.

Another reason: in-memory technology offers extensive potential for improving business processes and, not least, the possibility of transforming them in the direction of "real-time".

Dell SharePlex offers a solution for database migration. This uses a streaming process outside the database. The method is based on a protocol-based replication technology.

It ensures that data integrity is maintained without affecting the application itself. This reduces the usual downtimes by up to 90 percent compared to conventional migration methods.

There is a welcome side effect for companies that are switching from an Oracle database to Hana and have previously used Toad for administration. In terms of administration, they can build on their experience and expertise and use it for Hana once the migration is complete.
