"Cloud first, and now?

Alegri has been consulting on SAP on Azure since 2015. First, some boundary conditions should be considered: What is meant by cloud? SaaS, PaaS, IaaS; public or private? What is the goal? Flexibility, cost optimization, "No employees for infrastructure/databases/applications!" or agility?

An overview of the system landscape and services is the basis for planning. This is followed by a cleanup of the technical landscape and an update of the service catalog. Here, up to 25 percent of the systems can be discontinued.

Now comes the planning of the changeover: Depending on the scope, several phases make sense. These will usually overlap, so stringent program management is necessary. One of the first phases is the PoC, in which technical and organizational boundary conditions and assumptions are tested.

This is also where load tests and regression tests are performed and validated, if necessary. Organizational changes should not be underestimated: Changes in job profiles, requirements and required knowledge. With an experienced partner at your side, however, this change process can be carried out transparently and with little risk.
