Award - HPI Fellow Dieter Kempf
Kempf had foreseen the increasing demand for IT specialists at an early stage and had already championed the promotion of young IT talent in previous positions as President of the digital association Bitkom and Chairman of the Board of DATEV eG. This also led to close and good connections with HPI.
With this award, the Hasso Plattner Institute honors people who have made a special contribution to the interests of the institute and promoted its development.
Before Dieter Kempf, 13 other prominent personalities have received the HPI Fellow award, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, EU Commissioner Günther Oettinger and former EU Commissioner Neelie Kroes, the two "fathers" of the Internet, Bob Kahn and Vinton Cerf, as well as the former Minister Presidents of Brandenburg, Manfred Stolpe and Matthias Platzec.
