Seize your chance...

In 2018, CeBIT will take place in the summer - no longer as a classic trade fair, but as an innovation festival for digital fans. Ralf Weinmann, Head of Marketing & PR at Cormeta, has commented exclusively for E-3 Magazine on his impressions of the last CeBIT in the old format.

Seize your chance: This was the motto of CeBIT 2017 for us as an SAP partner for SMEs. CeBIT had its place in the Cormeta calendar in 2017, as in previous years.

As an annual event to exchange ideas with customers, interested parties, in the SAP community, market companions, ex-colleagues and not to forget the media, the fair was appreciated by my colleagues and me.

In addition, CeBIT was an information and training tool, especially for sales, marketing, product management and PreSales.

Where could you experience live the new SAP solutions and see what the "others" do and can do! This means that for Cormeta, the annual CeBIT investment only paid off in the interplay between business and the topics of networking, communication, learning and information.

Let's not kid ourselves, for pure business the trade fair has played less and less of a role for years: business "out of the hallway" didn't really happen!

In 2017, Cormeta again seized the opportunity to offer its visitors a platform around the topic of digital transformation for medium-sized businesses. From our point of view and based on the feedback of our guests also successful.

We had a lot of contacts to push business, get to know contacts personally and "exchange ideas" at all levels. I find the decision to turn the "digital trade fair into an innovation festival" courageous, but probably also inevitable.

Showing IT as "pure IT" is no longer successful in today's world; it is much more important to show where and how IT supports and promotes digitization and business.

There are colleagues who are already looking forward to CeBIT in "summery" clothes, let's be surprised whether a radical new beginning will succeed. We will seize the opportunities that this change brings!

How and where we in the SAP community will inform and educate ourselves in the future - apart from in the familiar media - will probably remain exciting for the time being. I wish the CeBIT organizers luck and success, because trade shows with their "personal" touch are also fun!
