Looking back: BTC SAP Summit 2024

Back in 2024, BTC's SAP Summit, moderated by Alexander Brocksieper, Head of SAP Business Development at BTC, provided the perfect stage for companies and industry leaders to explore the latest trends and significant innovations in the SAP environment. In 2025, the IT consulting company BTC will continue to introduce participants to the diverse possibilities of the SAP cosmos and provide an intermediary space between SAP and users.
Jörg Ritter, CEO of BTC, set the tone for the event with his presentation: in the spirit of Peter Drucker, the focus was on the organizational triangle - structure, strategy and culture - as a dynamic interplay within companies. Ritter emphasized that in organizations that have grown over the years, many processes seem cumbersome and outdated. It often seems easier to start a company from scratch. Nevertheless, investing in modern technologies and processes is worthwhile - provided they are part of a comprehensive, holistic change. Ritter emphasized that the concept of the Data-Driven Enterprise (DDE) is the right way forward.

Andreas Scholl from SAP made it clear that the use of generative AI is indispensable. In his lecture, Scholl not only presented the basic application possibilities of generative AI - including the live composition of a BTC anthem - but also the impressive capabilities of Joule, SAP's AI assistant. Joule analyzes company data and actively uses it to optimize the decision-making process. Scholl made it clear that a successful AI strategy is also an effective data strategy - without high-quality data, AI remains ineffective.
"This is relevant to the exam"
With the EU's new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, more companies are under pressure to submit comprehensive sustainability reports. Julia Windorfer and Marius Westermann, BTC, showed how SAP Datasphere helps companies to simplify their sustainability reporting. This platform, based on the Hana Cloud, makes it possible to create, analyze and visualize data models. This not only speeds up reporting, but also improves data quality and security. SAP Datasphere helps companies to efficiently meet their reporting obligations while actively contributing to the fight against climate change by making data-based climate-friendly decisions.
Breakout sessions in focus
After the keynote speeches, the breakout sessions focused on practical applications. The sessions focused on the possibilities of the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). Enthusiasm grew as the speakers demonstrated the platform's potential, particularly in the demonstration of automated invoicing and AI-supported code generation. The keynote speech by Freiberger Lebensmittel GmbH, known for its frozen pizzas, also focused on invoices and reports. Together with BTC, the customer presented its SAP Analytics Cloud application, which supports accounting and controlling and significantly simplifies annual planning. The audience was impressed and asked numerous questions. Many wanted to test the platform themselves and kept requesting new parameters for the analysis.
Corporate culture with a future
The closing keynote highlighted how modern technological possibilities can be integrated into the corporate culture. DDE is much more than just the use of new tools. A survey of the audience showed that in addition to better decisions, increased turnover is also expected as a result of this strategy. Tomke Mehrtens (BTC), Carsten Hinze (GP+S) and Stephan Schlicker (Five1) explained the necessary steps for a modern data strategy and architecture that enables companies to flexibly design and scale their IT infrastructures. They emphasized the central role of data fabric and data mesh in order to use data more efficiently. The path to a data-driven company requires a long-term strategy that also includes a profound cultural change. Experienced consultants can support companies in successfully shaping these challenging years of transformation.
