No budget for further training
Digitization brings with it a great deal of need for further training, but only very few companies allocate the corresponding budget for it. This was the finding of a joint study by the Bitkom digital association and the TÜV association, for which 504 companies with ten or more employees in Germany were surveyed.
Only 22 percent of companies have a fixed budget for training in digital skills. The majority of companies (75 percent) do not have a fixed budget to finance corresponding training for their employees.
When asked about possible hurdles in connection with further training, the lack of financial scope in the companies is one of the most frequently cited reasons.
The only obstacle mentioned more frequently is a lack of time. Half of the companies state that there is no time for corresponding time off. With regard to the further training of employees to acquire and deepen digital skills, 27 percent of companies say they are unable to assess the quality of the offerings.
For 26 percent, the offerings are not sufficiently tailored to their own needs. Almost as many, 24 percent, find the offers too expensive.
