The SAP partner port in Walldorf is where everything comes together. From here, Dell coordinates its global activities relating to the entire range of SAP solutions that companies use on their SAP-certified PowerEdge servers.
The starting point is the Global SAP Center of Excellence, which has been in existence since May. It manages all of the company's SAP sales activities, supports teams of employees and also carries out pre-sales and sales activities itself.
The consultants belonging to the Global SAP Center support strategic customers worldwide in all technical and organizational matters.
Physical proximity to SAP headquarters is an important prerequisite for optimal support of the companies. This brings great advantages for coordination and communication. This ensures a direct line to the SAP development department.
In addition, there are contacts with other partner companies that are also based in the partner port - e.g. Suse, Red Hat, VMware, Intel, SGI and Accenture.
Solution components from several solution providers are used in almost all SAP application scenarios, and the earlier these are coordinated and tested in interaction with each other, the better it is for SAP customers, as this reduces the integration effort on site when implementing a specific solution scenario.
A Global Technical Alliance Manager from Dell is responsible for fast and close coordination with SAP. He forms the interface to SAP development and therefore knows the exact roadmaps of the products at a very early stage - in both directions.
This knowledge in turn flows directly into their SAP solutions from Dell. It is not only SAP's input that is important here, but also that of other strategic hardware and software partners from the SAP ecosystem.
The Global SAP Center of Excellence takes a three-stage approach to project management and implementation of solutions for both international companies and typical SMEs.
There are Subject Matter Experts at country level, Enterprise Technologists at regional level (EMEA, North and Latin America, Asia/Pacific/Japan) and Global SAP Enterprise Solution Consultants.
When Dell launches a new SAP-related solution on the market, the pre-sales team first talks to interested customers and gathers initial experience in proof of concepts and subsequent productive implementations.
Here, the Global SAP Center of Excellence is also responsible for field engagement, training and education, thus ensuring the worldwide transfer of know-how - both within Dell and to partners.
Through their involvement with customers on site, employees are involved in a large number of exciting projects. This knowledge flows back into the Dell organization - firstly in the form of best practices and secondly in new products and solutions.
The Global SAP Center of Excellence acts as a 100% SAP-focused think tank. This is also where the global threads for cloud, big data, IoT and security come together. In addition to the global cooperation of all SAP-related activities, the company is expanding its collaboration with local partners.
SAP projects in general and Hana projects in particular are important growth areas for Dell in German-speaking countries, and the company is therefore stepping up the joint implementation of projects in which partners contribute their industry experience and SAP expertise.
The target group is medium-sized companies from all sectors, where Dell traditionally has a strong presence. There is also a dedicated data center in the new office. Here, employees can carry out feasibility studies and test implementations together with partners.
