Integrated Cloud MES and Analytics
Although the DSAG user association has extended the end of maintenance for the Manufacturing Execution (SAP ME) and Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP MII) solutions until 2030, the switch to the cloud is still only a matter of time.
With Digital Manufacturing (SAP DM), the next innovative product is already available. The solution promises to increase manufacturing performance. It is provided as software as a service and focuses on modular microservices. Bringing production to the cloud has decisive added value: a more intuitive interface; comprehensive, preconfigured functions; standardized consolidation of data and processes; and the ability to quickly implement prototypes without having to install and set up on-premises systems.
Overall, the solution is more transparent, more detailed and more powerful than the on-premises versions. In addition, the cloud MES is easily scalable and can also be used profitably at small sites with just a few machines. SAP Digital Manufacturing also requires little effort to implement and maintain in your own IT department.
Hybrid is also possible
Those who already use an MES but are not yet ready to fully embrace the cloud can choose the middle way. This allows companies to perform individual tasks in the cloud in order to relieve the burden on the on-premises infrastructure and also add some relevant functions that are not provided by the leading MES.
With the Elevate program, MHP offers customers a defined procedure for evaluating a migration from Manufacturing Execution to Digital Manufacturing.
In fit-to-standard workshops lasting three to four weeks, relevant core functions of the previous implementation are jointly identified and analyzed in detail for the migration. It is then clearly defined how to deal with which issues of the current implementation in the future and how the switch to the cloud can be successfully completed. The advantage of this is that added value quickly becomes visible for your own company and risks during migration are reduced right from the start.
The switch to the cloud should always be seen as an opportunity for your own business. The software-as-a-service approach makes it particularly easy for new customers to try out the solution today, as individual projects or prototypes can be introduced and evaluated quickly and cost-effectively using the demo system. However, existing customers are also well advised to think strategically about when and how they want to make the technical switch - if necessary, successively in individual plants via the hybrid path.
