Websites shut down, media offerings blocked, thousands of consultations with lawyers and data protection authorities: The wave of warnings in the wake of the EU GDPR has so far failed to materialize.
However, according to a study by data management specialist NetApp, German companies have greater concerns than elsewhere. They come off worst in the four-country comparison:
For example, shortly before the deadline, only 57 percent of German respondents felt that they were able to guarantee the encryption of personal data (UK: 69 percent, USA: 64 percent and France: 63 percent).
