E-3 Cover Story September 2017

Undeniably, Linux - a further platform for R/3 - became an open source scenario that offers existing customers on-premise but especially in cloud computing completely new perspectives. In other words, Hana, S/4, Cloud, IoT and Leonardo would be inconceivable without the partnership between SAP and Suse Linux.
Many logistics companies are also looking at IoT use with the SAP ECC S/4 Hana migration. And are relying on multi-cloud or hybrid cloud deployment. The range of services offered by ICT service provider QSC supports customers with S/4 as well as IoT and multi-cloud use.
The move to Hana and Hana-based SAP solutions like S/4 means a switch to Linux and open source - Suse: SLES for SAP Applications, Suse OpenStack Cloud and SAP Suse-Co Development Cloud Foundry.
The increasingly offered cloud solutions from SAP use OpenStack infrastructures. Suse platform solutions such as SLES for SAP Applications and the Suse Linux High Availability Extension play a central role in the SAP Hana Enterprise Cloud (HEC), among others.
SAP customers who want to take a well-founded approach to digitization should pay attention to a holistic approach. The focus should be on achieving agility benefits when using new SAP solutions such as S/4 Hana in hybrid cloud environments.

Working on the SAP basis is crucial for successful S/4 conversion.

This gives the Competence Center strategic importance for existing SAP customers. Regardless of the S/4 Hana operating model, topics such as Automation, Monitoring, Security, Application Lifecycle Management and Data Management the basis for S/4 operations.
