2030 is the deadline. By then, all SAP customers must have transformed their legacy systems to SAP S/4 Hana. We spoke to Thomas Failer, specialist for information management and S/4 transformation, about the current status of the projects.

Following the efforts to ensure consistent end-to-end processes, the topics of data economy and data management with Gen AI are now becoming even more important. At the beginning of the S/4 conversion, SAP customers realized very quickly that a successful release changeover would not be possible without verified and archived data. Even back then, SAP partner DMI was a leading consultant, service provider and supplier in this area.

Carve-outs used to be like open-heart surgery - with all the risks and side effects. Since JiVS IMP's minimally invasive method, this is no longer the case, as the example of a former subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz Hellas proves.

In the background, the biggest ERP change in IT history is probably taking place. In contrast, the version change from the mainframe-based SAP R/2 to the three-tier client-server system SAP R/3 was only a mild spring breeze.

Data and content from operational applications that are no longer processed there should be continuously transferred to a legally secure and system-independent platform such as JiVS IMP.

DMI is taking steps to radically simplify the transformation to SAP S/4 Hana. To this end, the company, which specializes in information management, advises SAP existing customers to have their own data layer for all information that is no longer processed operationally.
