Ce qui rend DNEG unique, c'est le logiciel d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par des centaines d'ing\u00e9nieurs \u00e0 travers le monde et les artistes qui acc\u00e8dent \u00e0 ces cr\u00e9ations pour fournir le travail prestigieux de DNEG. Un \u00e9l\u00e9ment fondamental de tout flux de travail d'effets visuels est la capacit\u00e9 de suivre et de g\u00e9rer une grande quantit\u00e9 d'actifs num\u00e9riques et leurs m\u00e9tadonn\u00e9es pour tout assembler, des paysages urbains aux foules qui se bousculent et \u00e0 l'eau qui coule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depuis ses d\u00e9buts il y a 25 ans en tant que petite entreprise bas\u00e9e \u00e0 Londres, DNEG n'a cess\u00e9 de cro\u00eetre et emploie aujourd'hui plus de 9 000 personnes sur dix sites dans le monde. DNEG doit \u00eatre rapide pour \u00eatre parmi les meilleurs dans son domaine, mais certains aspects de son syst\u00e8me de suivi des actifs, une grande application monolithique, \u00e9taient devenus un goulot d'\u00e9tranglement. La croissance constante des artistes et de la charge de travail a entra\u00een\u00e9 une augmentation correspondante des m\u00e9tadonn\u00e9es, qui se faisaient toutes concurrence pour acc\u00e9der aux m\u00eames services de base de donn\u00e9es. Il \u00e9tait clair que le syst\u00e8me de suivi des actifs n\u00e9cessitait une r\u00e9vision architecturale fondamentale pour soutenir l'\u00e9quipe croissante et r\u00e9partie dans le monde entier. DNEG a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 confront\u00e9 \u00e0 des exigences toujours plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es en mati\u00e8re de puissance de calcul \u00e0 mesure que la technologie \u00e9voluait dans le secteur, avec notamment l'introduction de la derni\u00e8re norme industrielle collaborative pour la construction de diff\u00e9rents \u00e9l\u00e9ments dans les sc\u00e8nes 3D anim\u00e9es - Universal Scene Description (USD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DNEG a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de diviser les parties importantes du syst\u00e8me de suivi des actifs en microservices et de les g\u00e9rer dans des conteneurs avec Red Hat OpenShift, une plateforme d'application cloud hybride bas\u00e9e sur Kubernetes. Le premier composant, le plus critique, \u00e9tait une API pour l'interrogation de m\u00e9tadonn\u00e9es \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle, Pipe Query. DNEG avait une vision claire et s'est appuy\u00e9 sur les consultants et la formation de Red Hat pour d\u00e9velopper son expertise en mati\u00e8re de DevOps, d'infrastructure en tant que code, de gestion des API et d'autres domaines pertinents, afin de mettre en place une preuve de concept, puis une infrastructure globale. Red Hat OpenShift est d\u00e9sormais d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 dans six centres de donn\u00e9es \u00e0 travers le monde et fournit une couche d'abstraction et d'orchestration entre les artistes et la base de
