But many companies' testing strategies are not efficient and lean enough for this. How do successful companies approach software testing and turn it into a driver for innovation? Tricentis explores this question in its annual report "How the World's Top Organizations Test", which is now available.

Quality managers and IT executives in 100 leading global organizations with revenues of five billion U.S. dollars or more - including Fortune 500 companies (or equivalents worldwide) and government agencies in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific - were surveyed. The project is supported by Innosuisse, the Swiss innovation promotion agency.

With Scansor, Itesys already has a proven software solution for monitoring SAP systems. Under the project name Scansor 2.0, the Frauenfeld-based company is working with the ZHAW to expand the software with intelligent algorithms for monitoring statuses and detecting errors at an early stage. The monitoring solution is to be further developed with artificial intelligence (AI).

The monitoring tool uses the automation of intelligent behavior and machine learning to enable end-to-end monitoring in the SAP environment. There are also plans to work together on transformation projects of all kinds.

Hyperscalers in the fast lane

According to a new ISG study, hybrid cloud solutions are becoming the preferred delivery model for cloud computing in Germany. The driving factor is the increased integration of innovative public cloud services. This includes AI services, for example, in order to achieve an optimal balance between costs, productivity and capacity of IT assets.

In the course of this development, the differences between managed hosting and managed services providers are rapidly diminishing. At the same time, the importance of colocation providers is growing as they gradually expand their core business. The aim is to cover the entire cloud computing value chain. In particular, flexible access to public cloud hyperscalers is becoming increasingly important. The importance of colocation providers who provide high-performance connections to the public cloud world is growing accordingly.

Against this backdrop, ISG also sees market opportunities for IT service providers who create competitive advantages for their customers with industry-specific best practices. The aim is to establish a continuous innovation process that allows customers to take the lead in their markets and stay there.

It is therefore becoming more important for service providers to understand the customer's business processes and applications in depth. This also includes know-how about how the customer's customers behave and how their ecosystems are changing.

"In the DACH region, we are still talking about more than 1000 IT service providers - a remarkably high number." - Heiko Henkes, Director and Principal Analyst, ISG

Nexus Thailand and SNP win construction market

Nexus and SNP Transformations, a subsidiary of SNP, have entered into a silver partnership. The contract focuses on transformations towards S/4 Hana and SAP Move to Cloud.

The partnership also marked the successful launch of a strategic SAP transformation project with HomePro, a large home improvement retailer in Thailand. Nexus and SNP's automated software approach is the key driver in HomePro's digital transformation strategy to move to Hana in just a few months using the near-zero downtime method to achieve HomePro's business goals in the region's retail sector. The SAP landscape and data transformation is designed to provide a stable and flexible platform to support HomePro's growth with real-time analytics capabilities.

Digital travel management

Orbis is now a certified consulting and implementation partner for SAP Concur. Its Android variants can extract data from popular messenger platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Viber as well as email programs and browsers.

The spyware is able to remotely monitor the user's screen via microphone and camera, create screenshots, record the smartphone owner's entries via keylogging and thus spy on unknowing people. Obviously, Pegasus is used in a very targeted manner, because unlike spyware, which is often widely used to capture masses of user data, Pegasus is not very widespread and is only used on a small number of people - apparently for surveillance purposes.

However, the minimal spread of spyware does not make it any less dangerous, as the damage to privacy for each individual who is monitored is certainly enormous.

"The minimal distribution of Pegasus spyware does not make it any less dangerous." - Jakub Vavra, Mobile Threat Analyst, Avast

Climate protection from the cloud

Microsoft has set itself ambitious goals in the fight against climate change. The company aims to be CO2-negative by 2030 and to remove all of the CO2 emissions from the atmosphere that it has caused since it was founded in 1975 by 2050. To achieve this, Microsoft has now announced extensive new measures. The key elements: more CO2-free electricity and a sustainable cloud.

With the Cloud for Sustainability, Microsoft is helping its customers to make CO2 emissions transparent and achieve their sustainability goals. The sustainable cloud solution enables companies to specifically monitor their emissions in areas such as heating or air conditioning systems, for example. CIOs can make the carbon footprint of their company's IT transparent - a crucial area that has so far hardly been taken into account in the sustainability efforts of most companies.

With the Cloud for Sustainability, companies can also offer their customers a sustainability scorecard to track progress in CO2 reduction.

Optimism despite decline in sales

The top ten personnel service providers for the recruitment, placement and management of IT freelancers reported a year-on-year decline in turnover of 2.1% for the 2020 financial year. As a result of the attack, the district's administration was virtually shut down for two weeks. Many citizens suffered directly from the short-term consequences. However, the medium and long-term effects are potentially even more devastating: if such basic tasks can no longer be fulfilled, this calls into question the fundamental efficiency of the state.

The events therefore have the potential to severely damage the trust of citizens. After such attacks, some may reflexively blame digitalization. This is the wrong approach: we will no longer be able to manage without digital processes in the future.
