{"id":970,"date":"2016-11-01T01:01:54","date_gmt":"2016-11-01T00:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/e3mag.com\/?p=970"},"modified":"2019-04-01T09:19:32","modified_gmt":"2019-04-01T07:19:32","slug":"end-expansion-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/e3mag.com\/en\/end-expansion-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Final expansion 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Desperation makes itself felt in the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-msutsbgk031u0u7eqwbafqsmdhwdrm7m\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span>-community is broad: Tasks from the areas of digital transformation and IoT need to be solved and implemented - but there are no standardized answers.<\/p>\n<p>For every problem conjures <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-81dyistbxh42oj3ktdjafalgaaedug9s\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span> a new reference customer out of the hat. These examples are technologically highly remarkable - but they are not sustainable! Their singularity prevents broad adaptation.<\/p><div id=\"great-2057607566\" class=\"great-fullsize-content-en\" style=\"margin-bottom: 20px;\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6yfv7eho3Gc\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Fullsize\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150.jpg\" alt=\"Fullsize\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150-400x50.jpg 400w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150-768x96.jpg 768w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150-100x13.jpg 100w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150-480x60.jpg 480w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150-640x80.jpg 640w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150-720x90.jpg 720w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150-960x120.jpg 960w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150-1168x146.jpg 1168w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150-18x2.jpg 18w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/banner_26_04_08_1200x150-600x75.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" width=\"1200\" height=\"150\"  style=\" max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>At <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-l9sm5qbrzitdyfoa46mncmtzfljtrq6x\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span> is surprised that business with Hana and S\/4 as well as Cloud (HEC and HCP) is not picking up due to the numerous references, use cases, business cases and PoCs (proofs of concept).<\/p>\n<p>Among existing customers, one is surprised that from <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-iqp3ldan3hdfviqray6flg7gy9alzva3\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span> no sustainable answers, instructions for action and generally applicable tips and tricks come.<\/p>\n<p>Accordingly, \"enabling\" the digital transformation is not as easy as inventing spectacular reference stories.<\/p>\n<p>What is missing from the digital transformation with its current manifestations such as IoT and Industry 4.0 is the scientific underpinning.<\/p>\n<p>There is a lack of a resilient foundation, a theoretical, generic model on which to base practical solutions.<\/p>\n<p>In R&amp;D (Research and Development), research was criminally neglected, and instead new, singular use cases and business cases were developed - and another cloud, and another cloud, and so on.<\/p>\n<p>Who knows all <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-iuzen8kvx1mhw3q5reprq77dgzhykm0l\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span>-own clouds and the clouds created in cooperation with partners such as <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-z7k9vrb90xiu5txysz1oqamufn613zgs\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">Siemens<\/span>, <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-xu8at8vo4qdlr6jmbh43kzcg6cfzrdtj\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">Bosch<\/span> etc. have arisen? The number of cloud construction sites must be enormous - in any case for a <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-e82435d1274c6ze5ij9bahzhxfngsphv\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span>-The number of existing customers is unmanageable.<\/p>\n<h3>Pure chaos<\/h3>\n<p>But also away from the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-jjab2hef3hpadavx1q0bap0sbp88i8lw\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span>There is a great deal of chaos in cloud computing. The numerous acquisitions are far from being digested.<\/p>\n<p>The HR\/HCM solution SuccessFactors is being sold with great aggressiveness, resulting in moderate success, but by no means implying technical stability of the HR\/HCM cloud.<\/p>\n<p>The first half of the year was characterized by significant outages and disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>Who <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-hgznj80uv1vccncl7gu1lfb4ntkelh2n\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ERP<\/span> and Hybris will find sufficient technical interfaces, but hardly any robust business cases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New customers are created where?<\/li>\n<li>Is hubris or <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-juzkj66n7knqbmh6nuy8c3qpfrf3wqhx\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ERP<\/span>\/<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-b1e2y772pjjfng30vsgna5qwu04jpe9o\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ECC<\/span> 6.0 the leading system?<\/li>\n<li>How, when and where does a <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ptf4rck850grgdar7ookpj1wff4d9ttv\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Data reconciliation<\/span>?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The existing customer has to solve all these business and organizational issues for himself again and again.<\/p>\n<p>The well-known manufacturer of a business management, holistic standard solution from <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-fikqk56bv0qv1jf8yqdxfjshl9i4bguh\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-place\">Walldorf<\/span> (see <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-qc2px07nydl0v60td3ggvgq86t7zgm6u\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">R\/2<\/span>, <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-x4oh3piugxe2aws8sf9whom1xmnrtsw4\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">R\/3<\/span> and <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-b4qgg1j684hgjx7iszwnhisuvcicxc28\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ERP<\/span>\/<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ht1sh1rjy0ivh59i66nv8g4mx6eoj45h\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ECC<\/span> 6.0) currently has no answers to this.<\/p>\n<p>Exemplary for the numerous open questions and construction sites in the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ugiot16upa3zzaimq8w6d8cy9ykt1c84\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span>-World Empire is the interface between <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-f8fcnqqaknfloizsfp5ca35264pc00ky\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ERP<\/span>\/<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-43ar0zupxi1xwjlyeo8svejbl3d5khl8\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ECC<\/span> 6.0 and Ariba.<\/p>\n<p>From <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-pe2jorhobhf22ps4j8uyxy9npdl4gt22\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ERP<\/span> to the global trading platform in the cloud is only possible by means of <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-o6hjad2e0ugg6hbx7lt3zfemo31wg76b\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">CSV<\/span>-file. In order for this data transfer to be GRC-compatible, it must be executed as specified by <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-fu2ej3lzbih0fxb1ptp1nydc3fqx6bom\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">SAP via NetWeaver<\/span> PI (Process Integration) can be handled.<\/p>\n<p>When using a <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-zcev7spwd8t4fs11vfftcw1qdl5ogal3\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">CSV<\/span>-file gets the word \"integration\" for the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-j13pqbb8mzfl5ekr58udijjb2mgrdwtq\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span>-The new concept has taken on a whole new meaning for existing customers.<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of this year, Ariba CEO Alexander Atzberger was said by the German Manager Magazin to have a real chance and great ambitions to become a major player in the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-2ri2g8gt2xrtoznlvsebrrzpm7rjid8u\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span>-Board of Management.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, things look quite different: At this year's Ariba in-house exhibition in Las Vegas, USA, Alexander Atzberger tried to showcase his on-premise and <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-v3xnqo1axjjuub0yo5h3qnhumcbcnwxu\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">SaaS<\/span>-yes, there is an on-premise interface between SAP and Ariba, but it is not being developed; yes, they are trying to design a cloud interface similar to the one between SAP and SuccessFactors.<\/p>\n<p>Software developer from <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-nthlzz7ilmrnb23j9k9v0ggbn4fkobp5\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-place\">Germany<\/span>who made desperate approaches to Ariba were told that an \"intelligent\" interface is planned, but is still an extremely low priority at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>It would be interesting to see how SAP Ariba President Atzberger would describe this construction site before the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-dvwt6oqzg4mbe0iixxg7j56jl0nhs3ta\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span>-board of directors justifies.<\/p>\n<h3>One piece of the puzzle after the other<\/h3>\n<p>But Alexander Atzberger of Ariba won't have much to worry about, because even at <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-qtgl1qaph4f3gief9e5b2rdxxe7jduz3\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span> himself, Chief Technology Officer Bernd Leukert with <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-69rvcib339s6wt60ibkmlldrvmjoy6br\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">S\/4<\/span> a permanent construction site that is expected to exist until 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Moments become in small steps <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-krbccp7d9grq3h1kmzgzvqwaki4rm21j\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">S\/4<\/span> Finance and S\/4 Logistics, supplemented by necessary infrastructure packages such as S4Core.<\/p>\n<p>One of this year's participants of the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-f3ojwunv2c915g30u8jwmmso3as7djgn\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">DSAG<\/span>-He said it reminded him of his youth, when he used to collect Bravo silhouettes and it took an eternity until the finished poster finally hung on the wall.<\/p>\n<p>The <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ipvbujpksopa3w152zteaj56w2vj2zsm\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span>-Existing customers will have to familiarize themselves with the new <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ib1wlx717my12r3up0c76abo1lypz5ov\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ERP<\/span> S\/4 not only be patient, but in between time and again crashes due to the instability of <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-u1ojjg9fsjfg0dc0i2wesmpsfsk97l3o\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">S\/4<\/span> and Hana - there was also an opportunity to discuss this in Nuremberg at the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-0a4l81ur5wjfrpxygzsmr7a6l75qpor3\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">DSAG<\/span> a harrowing talk from a Swiss S\/4 Finance user.<\/p>\n<p>The community agrees that <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-nwxhzuwem6mmrf80b350981svipheoar\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span> currently has many and good ideas, that the direction is roughly right, but obviously the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-zkzymzqett92wjrdrmonpx5exfuwzrqe\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ERP<\/span>-The Group is overstretched when it comes to doing its homework.<\/p>\n<p>A removal of all construction sites and a <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-8qni0rbgnildfnkw7gxfokphaorwxm47\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">S\/4<\/span>-final expansion are currently promised for 2020, but for many <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-xj4oqclz4mmxs71wtuvrso7pjtl6fhbk\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span>-Waiting is not an option for existing <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ktneh3dz08o3ltx6j09w6g8iz38yfwqw\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Option<\/span>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are two sides to the SAP dilemma: The Sapphire and DSAG keynotes state that Ariba, SuccessFactors and Hybris are now Hana-based.
