In addition, the respective transaction status can be processed.

This means that the data for booking a reservation, creating a credit note, and comprehensive and detailed insight into transaction status and API log are all available in one place.

All relevant payment methods have been integrated.

Race with power hogs

GIB presented a new, innovative energy management solution at the DSAG Annual Congress. The tool deciphers efficiency potential and offers the opportunity to display and control energy consumption in the best possible way.

The software is designed for SAP environments and was developed in close cooperation with IFM and Qosit.

At the beginning of the year, the successful Siegen-based companies GIB and Qosit announced their merger in the form of a joint venture.

Since then, the Essen-based IFM Group has also contributed its expertise to the alliance. The first results of the alliance could be admired at the GIB exhibition stand.

A Carrera track, which acted as a power guzzler, made the dry topic fun. While GIB provided the ERP system for this, IFM supplied the sensor and automation technology.

Qosit took care of the connectivity and the processing of the data obtained.

Secure authentication

SAP has introduced the latest version of the SAP Single Sign-on application.

It offers improvements such as extended support for mobile and cloud scenarios, simpler implementation and the ongoing optimization of security protocols according to market requirements.

Single sign-on enables greater security through secure authentication with a single secure password and additional security factors, all of which are stored centrally in a protected location.

The application enables users to be more productive by reducing the need for manual authentication, password resets and helpdesk involvement, resulting in cost savings.

SAP Single Sign-On is easy to implement and ensures that no passwords need to be provided and managed for different systems.

Quick tests for SAP systems

Incorrect or overly extensive authorizations in SAP are not only a significant security risk, but also clearly violate legal regulations.

With compact rapid tests from IBS Schreiber, these problems can be quickly identified and rectified.

Under the name Smart Repair, IBS Schreiber offers proven quick tests for authorizations in SAP.

The service packages are aimed at the IT department as well as IT security and data protection officers and internal auditors.

The Smart Repair service packages have been deliberately designed as pragmatic and target-oriented solutions to close existing security gaps in the SAP system. They are kept lean, cause little effort for the internal departments and thus differ from complex authorization projects with high costs.

Service app for your pocket

With CrossMIP, MobileX has developed a new multi-platform solution for the mobile processing of service and maintenance orders.

The streamlined application enables field service technicians to easily and quickly process the most important order functions on their iOS or Android smartphone or tablet.

The modern and intuitive user interface is geared towards the needs and use cases of technicians in service and maintenance.

The clear operation enables navigation with just a few gestures. Thanks to the full offline capability, the user has access to all necessary data at all times.

The app can be easily integrated into the existing interfaces of companies' leading systems - such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics ERP or proprietary applications.

Data is exchanged via the MobileX MIP server. Further updates for MobileX-CrossMIP are already planned for the fall, offering field service technicians even more functions for mobile processing.

IFRS conformity

SAP has announced enhancements to its SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting solution to support CFOs and Chief Accounting Officers in the implementation of IFRS 15 and ASC 606.

These new accounting standards apply to all companies and private, public and non-profit organizations. The new standards will completely replace the previous regulations on revenue recognition.

SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting (SAP RAR) automates and simplifies revenue accounting and helps companies comply with current and upcoming accounting standards.

The solution is the first in a series of SAP IFRS solutions designed to help financial managers comply with IFRS 15, IFRS 16 and IFRS 9.

SAP security package

Secude, the expert for data security solutions in the SAP environment, is presenting its new Daisy package (data security in SAP systems) together with its partner Entplexit.

This service provides companies with comprehensive insights into their SAP data security with minimal effort.

Security risks are identified, analyzed and documented so that the customer receives a comprehensive overview.

If there are security risks, such as breaches of compliance regulations, recommendations for action or possible measures are proposed.

"SAP data exports and downloads are sort of an unguarded frontier in many companies.

As a result, many responsible parties have no way of knowing where sensitive data is being exported from SAP, what is happening to it, and whether it may pose security risks."

"This also makes it difficult for those responsible to assess the risks and select appropriate solutions.

Daisy offers the chance to determine the actual situation with very little effort, to document it clearly and to take measures on this basis."

New archive solution

Automotive supplier Reinz is replacing its ECM system with a KGS archiving solution: The expiry of the existing maintenance contract with the previous archive manufacturer has now prompted Reinz Dichtungs GmbH from Neu-Ulm to switch to a modern SAP archiving concept from KGS.

Reinz develops and produces sealing technology for the automotive industry and is part of the US Dana Holding Corporation.

With KGS ContentServer4Storage, Reinz has opted for a system that focuses exclusively on SAP archiving - unlike the previous ECM solution, whose functionalities were barely utilized.

The company was able to do away with the previous jukebox and replace it with a virtualized server. The old data was transferred using special migration software from KGS.

The KGS solution is used in the regional Dana data center for Europe in Neu-Ulm, where five plants of the Power Technologies Group business unit run on the SAP system. The company now archives their data and documents with KGS.

SAP provider for social services

In the recently published "IT Report for the Social Economy 2016", Akquinet is one of the providers with the highest turnover.

The report shows the status of IT in social organizations and compares leading IT providers.

"This is the compass by which our entire industry is measured. We are delighted to be listed several times among the leading companies.

A lot is changing in the social economy, and with the help of our solutions we can provide organizations with optimal support on their difficult path"

says Martin Weiß, who is jointly responsible for the social economy at Akquinet. In the category of the largest providers in terms of turnover per employee, Akquinet is in seventh place.

The Hamburg-based company ranks fourth in the list of providers according to turnover per customer.

The "IT Report for the Social Economy" is published by the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.

Remote access as an SAP risk

Onapsis, a global expert in the security of business-critical applications, drew a picture of the SAP security situation in various industries in 2016 with its "Business Risk Illustration" (BRI) risk analysis service introduced at the beginning of the year to assess SAP risks.

The vulnerability scans in the SAP implementations of companies from the production, oil and gas, aviation and pharmaceutical sectors revealed highly critical security gaps.

In many cases, remote access to SAP systems and thus remote control of applications and data traffic was possible.

To date, Onapsis has analyzed the individual SAP implementations in over 100 companies on site and made initial recommendations.

This revealed 480 vulnerabilities: 142 of them "critical" or "high" according to the criteria of the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CSSV) - and therefore a high priority for closure.

Hana requires new security architecture

Careless use of SAP Hana can result in serious security vulnerabilities.

Hana as the technical basis for all new SAP applications, including S/4 and the Hana cloud platform, is also used by third-party providers to develop and offer applications and mobile apps.

This means that the potential attack surface is growing rapidly. The security gaps are not only caused by a lack of patches, but the configuration also already contains some serious sources of error.

In classic NetWeaver-based SAP systems, the application and database levels are clearly separated from each other. By using Hana, the familiar Abap applications are replaced by newly created functions in the Hana database.

This also makes the security concepts and settings used to date obsolete and they need to be replaced. At the same time, the centralization of data and functions in Hana means that the pros and cons are very close together.

If attackers manage to gain access to Hana, all avenues are open to them for spying on, modifying and deleting business-critical data.

IBS Schreiber offers an external audit and consultation on this topic.

Keep SAP synchronized

Complex, time-consuming and expensive is a thing of the past: this now also applies to SAP integration with third-party systems.

SAP standard interfaces such as OData make this possible - costly middleware is no longer required.

The Layer2 Cloud Connector makes this technological progress available to users: In just a few minutes, selected SAP data can be connected to hundreds of third-party systems and kept synchronized.

Programming, changes to the connected systems or the network are no longer required. Only connection strings and data queries are required for integration.

The data is then synchronized automatically in the background by a Windows service running in the customer's secure network.

Images in SAP objects

Movento has introduced an add-on that enables images to be stored on SAP objects. The Movento PictureManager helps to identify SAP objects more easily using images.

In conjunction with the MDC Master Data Cockpit from Realtime AG, duplicates in master data creation can also be avoided.

A production plant comes to a standstill. The service technician must quickly replace the defective part. However, this is often not so easy, especially with older systems - there is a wide range of spare parts available, some of which only differ from each other in minor details.

To help the technician find the right part quickly, a picture can be very helpful.

With the Movento PictureManager, images are displayed directly in the SAP search on the object. This makes it easier to identify spare parts and reduces the error rate when ordering.

EWM product tester

Inconso has once again been invited to the Solution Acceptance Tests organized by SAP for the latest release of SAP EWM and SAP EWM for SAP S/4 Hana.

Inconso was able to test the new functionalities and features of SAP EWM 9.4 in a workshop lasting several weeks at the beginning of the year. The Solution Acceptance Test for SAP EWM as part of SAP S/4 Hana took place in June/July.

Inconso is an SAP PE Service Partner with SAP Recognized Expertise in Supply Chain Management in Germany and provider of an SAP Business All-in-One solution for logistics service providers.

The logistics software specialist is responsible for and supports implementations all over the world and, with SAP EWM, has relied for many years on the powerful SAP solution for warehouse management, which ideally complements its own service portfolio around the Inconso Logistics Suite.

SAP EWM 9.4 has been officially available since May 12, 2016. The improved integration of SAP TM and SAP EWM, the availability of batch management at plant level and communication with programmable logic controllers for conveyor technology via Abap Push Channels are the highlights of the new release.

Certification

The Ortec for SAP ERP solution was certified for integration in SAP ERP on the SAP Hana platform in 2016.

The solution also has "powered by SAP NetWeaver" certification. The SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) has confirmed that Ortec for SAP ERP 2016 is compatible with SAP ERP as part of standard integration technologies.

The certificate guarantees the stability of the solution when used together with ERP for loading and transport optimization. This is an important step for Ortec:

"This certification is a decisive development for us"

"Many companies have already switched to Hana database technology to take advantage of this highly effective and powerful data processing."

No monthly SAP news should be disregarded.
