2018 was another very successful year for the 20 leading medium-sized IT consultancies, with average revenue growth of 13.8 percent.<\/p>\n

This enabled them to gain further market share over the top 25 IT consultancies, which grew at a slightly slower statistical average of 12.3 percent.<\/p>

The good mood and future business development of the 20 leading IT consultancies are only clouded by the tense situation on the IT labor market.<\/p>\n

It is becoming increasingly difficult for SMEs to find and recruit urgently needed specialists in STEM subjects. Almost one in ten vacancies remained unfilled as a result of the shortage of specialists in the top 20 medium-sized IT consultancies analyzed in 2018.<\/p>\n

In times of ever more project inquiries, this means that around one in five project inquiries had to be rejected. The medium-sized IT consultancies surveyed are trying to close the gap in vacancies in the future with significantly stronger measures in the area of personnel marketing and active sourcing.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, more and more IT consultancies are training their own specialists and entering into strategic collaborations with universities. More investment in recruiting as well as in employee retention is becoming a decisive success factor for medium-sized IT consultancies in order to fulfill their role as partners in the digital transformation for customers.<\/p>\n
