The \"Digital Competitiveness Index - A Comparison of German Cities\" is based on the components of talent, innovation and attractiveness of cities. It measures 14 indicators such as the strength of the IT industry, digital start-ups, the pool of IT specialists and the attractiveness for companies and students.<\/p>\n

The Bavarian capital boasts a highly dynamic information and communications sector, the largest number of qualified IT experts and is a conurbation for IT companies as well as for many industries that use digital technology.<\/p>

Berlin, on the other hand, is the most innovative location due to its high density of research institutions and the highest start-up intensity. Hamburg achieved third place due to its attractiveness for future, highly qualified employees - most students are drawn to the Hanseatic city.<\/p>\n

The availability of human capital is the most important factor for the productivity and prosperity of cities. Munich has a high level of IT employment and a strong and dynamic ICT sector.<\/p>\n

This is reflected in the 34% increase in employment figures in the ICT sector between 2009 and 2014, with Berlin and Karlsruhe achieving a similarly high figure. In order to promote the innovative capacity of cities, research centers are needed above all, but also IT companies and digital start-ups that take up and implement new findings. This is the only way to implement ideas such as smart homes, self-driving cars or autonomous machines for Industry 4.0.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
