The native plug-in utilizes the Eclipse-based Open Data Access Framework (ODA) and is the latest in the series of Birt connectors for common data sources.

Similar to the Birt and ActuateOne interface, the BW connector offers an intuitive user interface that allows users to easily create queries from BW. The retrieved data can then be combined within the ActuateOne products with data of any size and complexity, including big data sources such as machine data or information from social media.

The connector is intended for any Birt developer or IT organization that wants to integrate BW data with Birt or ActuateOne.

SAP: Mobile Operator Guide

With the Mobile Operator Guide 2013, SAP is publishing a guide that provides an overview of current developments on the global mobile market and industry trends. The first edition is entitled "The development of mobile services: Challenges, Strategies, Opportunities".

The guide offers an important planning aid in the form of articles to increase revenue from the messaging business and reduce costs at the same time. It also shows how companies can tap into new sources of revenue, increase customer loyalty through loyalty programs or pave the way for LTE roaming via IPX implementations.

In this way, providers secure their competitive advantage in an IP-based world. The SAP guide includes contributions from over 40 industry experts from international companies, including Telefónica, GSMA, Yankee Group and Cloudmark.

Ass.Tec: perfectly tailored

Raw material is expensive. In order to optimize consumption and avoid waste, Rehm BlechTec combined its special software for sheet metal cutting machines act/cut with the centrally deployed SAP solution.

An interface programmed by Ass.Tec ensured that data was exchanged between the two software worlds. The programming effort only took four days. The concept, planning and programming of the second part of the interface for the transfer of production order data between SAP and act/cut was more complex.

Since the interface has been in operation, there are no longer any manually created lists in the warehouse and in production. In administration, raw material consumption is posted immediately so that the correct stocks are transparent in SAP in real time.

As a result, work processes are faster, machine utilization is higher and billing and cash flow are accelerated.

New IAM solution for GRC challenges

CA Technologies presents a new Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution. The software can be integrated into SAP solutions for governance, risk and compliance (GRC) and supports companies in minimizing the risk of fraud and managing access policies.

CA Technologies is cooperating with Greenlight Technologies to integrate CA IAM into the SAP Access Control Application. The integration was developed on the basis of Greenlight's Enterprise Business Control Platform.

It enables real-time separation of visibility as well as policy-compliant provisioning and deprovisioning of tasks in the IT and corporate application environment. This enables preventive controls that extend, mitigate or even terminate dangerous access combinations before deployment.

Connection of docuglobe to SAP

The aim of a cooperation between gds and Seal Systems is to make existing information and structures in SAP usable for the creation of technical documentation. Seal Systems has developed an interface for connecting editorial systems to SAP systems.

For users of the gds docuglobe editing system, this bidirectional connection enables the automated use of all information (metadata) and documents (drawings, circuit diagrams) required for creating documentation, which can be obtained directly from SAP.

"Through the cooperation with Seal Systems, we are continuing the development of docuglobe. The provision of the new interface ensures maximum efficiency when using our editorial system in the company"

says Ulrich Pelster, gds board member.

Have workstation computers managed via a cloud solution

Medium-sized companies can now have their local end device infrastructure managed via a cloud computing solution. System updates, patches and software updates are installed centrally from the cloud.

Individual maintenance of individual workstations is no longer necessary. Managed Desktop works for both local installations and virtualized IT workstation environments. A user's entire operating system and application landscape is backed up centrally in Pironet NDH's Business Cloud.

This allows the entire system to be restored on a new device in the event of a physical computer failure. Managed Desktop can also be used to manage virtualized workstation environments that are provided via thin clients, for example.

Trillium Software System with new release

Trillium Software is launching a new version of its system. This includes new data visualization options that make it easier for directors and managers to gain a visual impression of the impact of data quality on their business processes through appropriate reporting and business intelligence.

A full integration of business rules between data profiling and data cleansing and more sophisticated ways to prioritize these rules and search allow managers to clearly define rules and customize them to specific regulations and procedures for compliance.

M-Way Solutions is an SAP partner

M-Way Solutions is a Mobile Apps Development Partner of SAP. Leading retail chains in Austria require their partners, suppliers and customers to deliver their data via the eXite network.

The electronic data exchange is very simple: Retarus receives the data in customer format (invoices, delivery bills), converts it into Edifact format and transfers it to the eXite network via authorized AS2 direct connect.

Editel then forwards the verified supplier data to the trading company. In the opposite direction, Retarus receives the data already in Edifact format and delivers it in the format requested by the supplier.

This avoids time-consuming multiple connections, reduces susceptibility to errors, cuts costs and increases connection speed.

DataVard makes SAP systems fit

At the DSAG Technology Days in February 2013, DataVard presented the new nearline storage solution for SAP BW and Hana, DataVard OutBoard. This enables SAP customers to separate data according to operational relevance.

Those that are relevant to daily operations are left in the online database, while the remaining data can be stored in DataVard OutBoard and compressed by up to 95%. This reduces the system size, slows down the growth of the database and reduces costs.

DataVard also presented the BW Fitness Test, which companies can use to analyze their SAP systems. The combination of automated in-depth analysis and detailed benchmarking reveals areas for improvement, resulting in clear recommendations for action to increase system performance and stability.

IBM presents mobile portfolio

With MobileFirst, IBM presents a portfolio that combines new solutions for mobile security and analytics as well as software for application development with cloud-based services. The system is also available on tablets and smartphones.

EDI consolidation at Autoliv

The Swedish-American automotive supplier Autoliv is consolidating its EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) systems at 32 locations in Europe onto a central platform - the Business Integration Suite.

"The different IT systems at the Autoliv locations made cross-location modifications difficult and made conversions expensive, time-consuming or even impossible. The many license models also offered opportunities for savings"

says Olaf Schwartz, Manager IT Business Competence Center, Autoliv.

The new B2B/EDI solution (BIS6) maps standardized formats such as OFTP2 and enables individual adaptations on the customer side. The consolidation measures have halved the overall EDI costs.

Further advantages: no local systems, more transparency, central support and independence from the system provider thanks to enablement measures. In addition, the finance and logistics data will be migrated step by step without interrupting deliveries.

Pooling synergies, strengthening cooperation

ISO Professional Services and Noris Network can look back on a business relationship of almost ten years. The companies have now further intensified this cooperation with joint offerings in the area of SAP hosting.

The combined range of services is to be better marketed in future through joint events and campaigns.

"Thanks to its high level of technical expertise, several high-security data centers and multiple redundant connections to various carriers, Noris Network is the ideal partner in our demanding SAP business area"

says Johannes Reichel, Managing Director of ISO Professional Services.

The North Bavarian medium-sized companies thus combine SAP operations with the possibility for companies to outsource the associated infrastructure and to be able to fall back on data centers operated in accordance with ISO 27001.

OfficeMaster Version 5.0

At CeBIT 2013, Ferrari electronic presented version 5 of the
Unified Communications Suite (UC) OfficeMaster. The survey of more than 400 IT decision-makers shows that 37% of companies in Germany actively use IT services from the cloud. A further 29 percent of companies are discussing the topic.

The private cloud remains at the center of cloud activities. In addition to rising user numbers, the PAC analyses also reveal a growing polarization in the assessment of cloud computing: a large number of cloud advocates (35%) are offset by a growing proportion of sceptics (44%).

The proportion of those undecided is decreasing (20%). This trend is particularly evident in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), where the cloud topic is gaining in maturity. The fear of data loss remains a key obstacle to the use of public cloud solutions.

VCE with a new innovation boost

As a provider of converged cloud infrastructure systems, VCE has announced a major launch of new hardware and software to help mid-sized enterprises and service providers modernize and structure their data center environment.

These include the components VCE Vision Intelligent Operations, Vblock System 200, Vblock System 100 and extensions to the Vblock System 300 and Vblock System 700 product families.
