According to the study, almost two thirds of companies are in the midst of the transformation process.

One in five are currently in a growth and scaling phase of their digital business models. However, 40 percent still see a considerable need to catch up. Nevertheless, many of them want to significantly increase funding for innovations, especially in the storage sector.

SAP Quality Award

The SAP Quality Awards ceremony took place in Mannheim at the beginning of December 2018. With this award, SAP recognizes the best implementation projects of the year. The first prize in the "Innovation" category went to DEE, a provider of customized textiles.

Together with SAP partner Innovabee, the start-up, which was founded six years ago as a manufacturer of customized shirts for company runs, introduced SAP S/4 Hana Cloud in just 16 weeks in the spring of this year.

The project was one of the first S/4 Hana cloud implementations realized by an SAP partner in Germany. In addition to the implementation time, the project's methodology and budget were also evaluated.

Leader SAP Hana Services

Devoteam Alegri, Microsoft and SAP partner in the DACH region, has been rated as a Leader in the ISG Provider Lens SAP Hana Services 2019. Devoteam Alegri has developed a "booster methodology" that enables customers to use S/4 functionality even before the often extensive conversion of core systems has been completed.

Here, an S/4 system is placed in front of the core systems, which uses their data but provides extended functionality. This can be provided quickly and without any hardware investment as part of a PoC, e.g. in the Azure cloud.

As one of the first partners for "SAP on Azure", Devoteam Alegri can draw on a wealth of experience when it comes to switching to the cloud in the context of the increasingly frequently communicated "cloud first" IT strategy.

Optimized audit processes

BlackLine launched its new BlackLine Compliance solution at its annual Accounting and Finance Innovation Summit 2018 user conference in Las Vegas.

The compliance solution is the latest addition within BlackLine's cloud platform and is specifically designed to manage internal controls in large and mid-sized organizations.

Risks, policies and procedures, controls, discrepancies, and audit programs are integrated into a unified, cloud-based system. This accelerates and simplifies audits, consolidates project management, and improves visibility into control activities.

Users have the ability to connect control performance, validation, and testing within a single application and interface. Internal auditors can thus access control evidence directly, reducing dependencies.

Accenture supports Carlsberg

Accenture has supported Carlsberg in migrating its IT infrastructure to a public cloud solution. This step is part of Carlsberg's strategy to become a data-driven, digitally positioned and networked company.

The transition will provide Carlsberg with a modernized, dynamic and agile platform for its enterprise solutions. This will allow the company to continue to tackle digital innovations and make its IT processes even more transparent.

Accenture and Avanade worked closely with Microsoft and SAP to help Carlsberg migrate its core infrastructure and business-critical applications to the Microsoft Azure public cloud in less than six months.

SAP Recognized Expertise

Projekt0708 has long held the status of SAP partner with SAP Recognized Expertise for SAP ERP HCM in Germany. Most recently, Projekt0708 has also been able to demonstrate SAP Recognized Expertise for SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting and Onboarding, SAP's cloud solutions for human resources, in Germany.

Successfully completed reference projects in this environment, including for customers Sortimo and Lechwerke, were decisive for this. The Projekt0708 consultants involved were certified accordingly in advance.

The award was also accompanied by a review of the technical expertise and project experience of the Projekt0708 employees.

Reliable master data for optimization and innovation

Reliable, clearly defined and accessible master data is the linchpin that enables departments, business analysts, data scientists, developers and IT to work smoothly and efficiently in their data-driven activities.

This is the conclusion reached by the Würzburg-based research and consulting institute for business software, Business Application Research Center (BARC), in its latest research note "Master data management - an essential pillar of the digital enterprise".

ZetVisions sponsored the free distribution of the independent study. Master data is no longer only necessary for accounting systems and BI reports and to control operational processes.

They are playing an increasingly important role in advanced analytics. In turn, advanced analytics only offer added value when their models are integrated into operational and BI systems. The challenge is to better link these areas of application with each other, as this is the only way to achieve sustainable business success.

New sales opportunities in the SAP environment

Sysob is offering its specialist retail partners new sales opportunities: The information management and archiving solution EMA 6.0 from Sysob's manufacturing partner AR-TEC IT Solutions can now be purchased with a certified SAP ArchiveLink interface.

The solution can be used to capture, provide and archive SAP documents. In addition, unstructured information from any other source, such as file server files, scanned documents, emails or even voice recordings, can be included and integrated and displayed in SAP processes in a structured manner.

This enables complete and secure management of all relevant data sources, including SAP objects, in a single system.

Gartner Peer Insights Customers' Choice

SEP Sesam is one of the leading solutions recognized by Gartner in November 2018 on the customer evaluation portal "2018 Gartner Peer Insights Customers' Choice" for Data Center Backup and Recovery Software for Data Center.

The Gartner Peer Insights Customers' Choice is a rating of vendors in their market, awarded by verified end users, taking into account both the number of reviews and the overall ratings.

The SEP Sesam data backup solution is "Made in Germany" and backs up a wide range of virtual environments, operating systems, applications and databases.

SAP Cloud for Customer

Schneider-Kreuznach, which specializes in high-performance lenses and filter systems for industry, film and photography, has introduced SAP Cloud for Customer (SAP C4C). The simultaneous integration into SAP ERP now allows greater transparency in sales processes, which has optimized customer and quotation management.

By introducing SAP C4C, Schneider-Kreuznach is aiming for a 360-degree view of all customers and consequently a quick overview of the quotation and order history as well as detailed evaluations of the order volume and the sales pipeline. This could only be achieved through a seamless connection to the ERP system.

In future, it will be possible to better map complete order entries, sales processes, master data or even pricing in order to make well-founded business decisions.

The solution also includes several analysis tools such as real-time dashboards or reports on the various key sales figures for optimal evaluation and further optimization of processes.

The challenge of data quality

Bad data is expensive. This is especially true for customer data, as completeness, timeliness and accuracy are particularly important here. For example, 37% of companies have to contend with incorrect customer data.

One in five even complain about undeliverable mailings and returns due to incomplete, outdated and multiple customer data stored in the system. This was the result of a survey of 143 companies in the DACH region conducted by Uniserv, a specialist provider of customer data management solutions.

The majority of companies surveyed by Uniserv (82%) seem to be aware that concrete measures are required to maintain and improve data quality. However, this proportion has fallen compared to the previous year's survey.

One of the most frequently cited reasons why respondents do not take measures to maintain or optimize the data quality of their customer data is a lack of awareness of its importance for business success among management and employees. One in three also criticized the lack of technical possibilities.

NFLEX Converged Infrastructure is SAP-certified

The NFLEX Converged Infrastructure developed jointly by Fujitsu and NetApp is now also available for SAP environments. The solution has been optimized for SAP installations ranging from the Business Suite to S/4 Hana and BW/4 Hana.

The preconfigured data center infrastructure can be used with both Windows and Linux operating systems. NFLEX is fully scalable and therefore well suited for SAP installations in small and medium-sized companies. The solution is ready for operation in just one day.

NFLEX for SAP Environments can optimally streamline the implementation and operation of SAP landscapes. It combines a fully integrated stack of proven computing, storage and infrastructure management solutions from Fujitsu and NetApp with unified service and support.

Ready for S/4 Hana

Perspectix is driving digitalization in technical sales: its P'X Sales Solution quickly and reliably creates individual quotations using modular product systems. It also transfers the data directly to the ordering of purchased parts, production and assembly once the order has been received.

The solution integrates with CAD and PDM systems as well as with the leading ERP system. The current version enables the configuration, project planning and calculation of multi-variant products in direct data exchange with SAP S/4 Hana.

As a digitalization solution, the P'X Sales Solution uses all existing information from the relevant software systems to bridge their interfaces with complete, digital processes.

Solution for contract and license management

Circle Unlimited publishes the new release 9.1 of its document, contract and license management system. The solutions cuSmarText, cuContract and cuLicense are fully integrated into SAP and Microsoft systems, suitable for all industries and specialist areas and are now available in the latest version.

Highlights include the new document approval function, which enables individual approvals with multi-level approval processes. In addition, files and documents can be automatically and physically deleted for GDPR-compliant implementation.

Another new feature is automatic incoming mail processing, which automatically recognizes and classifies incoming documents using OCR recognition with AI capabilities.

Warehouse management system at Brenntag

Brenntag, one of the leading chemical distribution companies, has built a new high-bay warehouse with guided stackers at its Filago site near Milan in just nine months.

At the same time, SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) was introduced as a process solution for warehouse management. SAP Gold Partner FIS received the order to connect the SAP warehouse management system with an individual ERP solution.

Brenntag opted for SAP EWM because it offers more extensive functions for warehouse management than the previous individual ERP system. The go-live went smoothly. The integrated solution from FIS was available in time for the commissioning of the automated warehouse.

Technology spurs cloud expansion

Business objectives alone are not driving companies to the cloud. Rather, the maturity, flexibility and reliability of cloud technology are causing companies to increasingly rely on it.

This is according to the latest study published by the Cloud Foundry Foundation, provider of numerous open source projects. While IT decision-makers have already been convinced of the benefits of the cloud, they are increasingly relying on mature technologies in the platform and application layer of the stack, such as PaaS, containers and serverless.

For example, 74 percent of survey participants can now easily explain to a colleague what is meant by "PaaS". The result is a virtuous circle: Familiarity with a technology results in more advanced technologies being used in the shortest possible time, as fears of contact are lost.

A company's journey to the cloud is often mistakenly compared to a "sudden leap" rather than the step-by-step journey associated with this positive cycle.

The research activities of the Cloud Foundry Foundation over the past three years show that companies are gradually pursuing an IT strategy that not only relies fully on the cloud, but also makes continuous use of innovative technologies such as PaaS, containers, serverless and others. More and more companies are also prioritizing interoperability and integration.

No monthly SAP news should be disregarded.
