It was started by Rackspace and Nasa.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, more than 260 well-known companies have joined this project, including both software and hardware companies.<\/p>\n<p>IT key players such as <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-hvedoup5mimwi1ygydrpudpmjimqh3l9\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">IBM<\/span> or HP participate in <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-pxi2qmrjzdqw49145tslyuldnx4it3qu\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Openstack<\/span>, as well as <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-tgzrorwtskpv4038wsljo90pugiptup6\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">Dell<\/span> and <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-q0zvusxcbjne690yx9wvfht2lrfcxr7y\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">Cisco<\/span>which already offers Suse Cloud based on <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-aw8qptj1qeemdp6x9111yn40w1j4q9x0\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Openstack<\/span> offer to their customers.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-4g0ejvtoa2htr4gax09zfi4ko687pip7\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span> joined the Openstack community; relies on <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-m2bzeoueswkjo0cykzpgwshiwag01tkt\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Openstack<\/span> as a cloud platform.<\/p>\n<p>And, it is also a fact that the first Openstack Enterprise product on the market was developed by <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-x2wn1ooooipilz7xuaro9lafdnswnzfj\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Suse<\/span> introduced under the name Suse Cloud in the fall of 2012.<\/p>\n<p>In addition <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-u4bdbc6t1f1sl0bkoqj24esh9if7irvc\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Suse<\/span>-Employee Alan Clark Chairman of the Board of the Openstack Foundation.<\/p>\n<h3>After Folsom now Grizzly<\/h3>\n<p>About the modules and release cycles of <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-y343l6yzenbneqbwmn2pov4t7qkf2enw\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Openstack<\/span> is important to know: Individual release candidates are given names in alphabetical order.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012 there were the releases named Essex and Folsom, the current one is called Grizzly. Provided are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A dashboard (Horizon) that supports monitoring of the most important parameters in the cloud<\/li>\n<li>Quantum network management, which automates the integration of physical and virtual devices in the network.<\/li>\n<li>the Blockstorage Cinder, which provides virtual block storage in the form of virtualized storage media, where the block storage can be attached to virtual machines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An API interface allows Cinder to connect to Swift object storage so that block storage media can communicate with object storage.<\/p>\n<p>The object memory is responsible for redundant data storage, the compute module <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-xsfme4nm51sjvvffivov85oypequgcn8\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Nova<\/span> in turn can manage groups of virtual machines and the virtualized machines can be distributed across any number of compute nodes.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, XEN, <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-p9n6jkis14ledm23w4gh8heu3b88zl8f\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">KVM<\/span>, <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-0diwvbrj8woc9dhfyi220mmqumjbgs2c\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Hyper-V<\/span> and <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-qvvuvqb3vkln6pd3qve4dp1zd7qt6x9r\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">ESX<\/span> are supported as hypervisors. Furthermore the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-kz6cxzvvyahi5qpxl2kyblki7fdx67ds\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Openstack<\/span> Image Service Glance virtual machine images available.<\/p>\n<p>These are then used by <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-9lumw9kiozt3m3c0nsmtrcm9ydp40rdp\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Nova<\/span> used as a template to compile virtual machine instances.<\/p>\n<p>And last but not least, the Keystone identity management module secures identity exchange between <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-tao20c0fqlkindj9tms2drlvouuf9a5j\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Nova<\/span> and Swift.<\/p>\n<p>As already mentioned <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-h30f3pkfpirijihofvgnsr61kcb64aa1\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Suse<\/span> became the first Linux distributor to join Openstack.<\/p>\n<p>As the oldest <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-diiv1gt6khk0bc0ykefmnj935rjy8bj9\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Linux distribution<\/span> in the market, QA processes are embedded in the DNA of <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-aia03hab4jhpq55mb8afn4azs9tz0ns4\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Suse<\/span> over. And that is to make such complex <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-njrrl87qbhz1b777y8tjnhg4lz5wka0d\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Open Source<\/span>Maintain or support business-level projects to make it as easy as possible for customers to deploy and maintain the technology.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, the close cooperation of Suse and SAP gets food for thought that <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-1sj3rz0y28ng7h50kp44q9n9onu1rlfu\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">SAP<\/span>-workloads can also be transferred to the Suse Cloud.<\/p>\n<p>The fact is: <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-44y0jhxes8s0u013xtijbdlrquwofbai\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Suse<\/span> has its <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-16j4ex5iqb640lzvp9c3nzak9w0nspi3\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Openstack<\/span>-Suse Cloud distribution updated for the implementation of a private IaaS cloud.<\/p>\n<p>Suse Cloud 2.0 uses the Grizzly version and supports the mixed use of the hypervisors <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-nudnvg906lnwxf6uczm5f9yvttb38pxl\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">KVM<\/span>, <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ry7lem3rvag52c8wle52ieck5iw6arf7\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Xen<\/span> and <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ucng3h8hn3fc64ou261l5bfsybr4i4at\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Hyper-V<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Also the use of <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-6qa33niy3ji9gpmrug6qr8u81hgeyd5a\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">VMware<\/span> ESXi is available as a Technical Preview.<\/p>\n<p>Should <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-qfi9q20bzfx8malc60819t6w4lstnx4p\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Hana<\/span> in the future for production on <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-bq3ob5prdkbys72shdiydy4qjwzov28w\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">ESX<\/span> are released, it becomes possible, <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-0txb89nhvvsyw4rz4msijgicya1zekc2\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Hana<\/span> or NetWeaver with Suse Cloud powered by Openstack.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/e3mag.com\/partners\/suse-linux-gmbh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11380 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CI-SUSE.jpg\" alt=\"https:\/\/e3mag.com\/partners\/suse-linux-gmbh\/\" width=\"1000\" height=\"112\" srcset=\"https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CI-SUSE.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CI-SUSE-768x86.jpg 768w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CI-SUSE-100x11.jpg 100w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CI-SUSE-480x54.jpg 480w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CI-SUSE-640x72.jpg 640w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CI-SUSE-720x81.jpg 720w, https:\/\/e3mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CI-SUSE-960x108.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Enterprise computing without open source is like a fish without water.
