In the course of digitalization, Steiff will rely more and more on paperless office in the area of invoice receipt processing and will process its incoming documents digitally in the future.

Process optimization was also carried out on this occasion. The hoped-for benefits: In addition to shorter invoice turnaround times, the company also wanted better compliance with invoice verification standards.

SAP Customer Checkout

SAP specialist Uniorg "cashes in" on new Outfitter stores: Previously known as an online specialist for soccer and sports equipment, Outfitter's new business model envisages the opening of nationwide offline stores.

The Frankfurt and Neu Isenburg locations are the first stores alongside the outlet in Mainz-Kastel, which were successfully launched at the end of 2017. Outfitter was looking for a future-proof, cross-business IT solution for the operation of the store tills that would make it easy to connect additional locations and could also be easily integrated into a traditional ERP solution in the future.

"Because of these requirements, we opted for the 'SAP Customer Checkout' (CCO) checkout software, which initially fulfills all short-term requirements as a standalone solution.

The receipt data is collected centrally on the POS server and can be retrieved at any time thanks to the Hana technology used and analyzed using reports"

says André Hornemann, Head of Back End IT at Outfitter.

"The fact that Uniorg has become our SAP service partner for this is due on the one hand to their many years of experience in the sports environment, and on the other hand to their great expertise in the implementation of SAP ERP and merchandise management projects. In our case, that would be SAP Business One in the future."

Within three weeks, all three checkout locations were ready for SAP operation on schedule, just in time for the grand opening event on November 7 in downtown Frankfurt.

New members of the SAP Vehicles Network

SAP has announced new partners and customers for the SAP Vehicles Network to provide additional vehicle and mobility services through this open, standards-based service marketplace.

New payment options via MasterCard, secured via token-based coding, navigation options from Here and on-demand delivery services from Postmates - these new services now expand and enrich the SAP Vehicles Network portfolio.

Test duration/2

The decision to switch to the Hana database and ERP 6.0 EHP7 in a single step presented the Eissmann Group Automotive with a number of challenges, as the system has to run around the clock at all production sites and the globally dispersed branches without exception.

The Panaya Test Center provided real-time data and system recommendations from the company's own system in order to take all affected transactions into account during the necessary tests and prevent serious failures.

"We had an upgrade two years earlier without Panaya, when we experienced system errors in the production system. With Panaya, we have a very high level of quality for detailed, qualified testing. We have also achieved a 50 percent time saving for all regression and upgrade tests"

explains Martin Spiegler, head of the project at Eissmann.

The Panaya Test Center enabled Eissmann to improve scoping and prioritization in the planning phase. Instead of relying on manual test scripts and approximate prioritization, they were able to rely on concrete data and system recommendations based on Eissmann's own operational applications.

Studio and Foundation 11.4

Winshuttle, the application data management (ADM) specialist, is launching version 11.4 of its Studio and Foundation software products. Their integration into S/4 Hana 1709 has been officially certified by SAP.

This has the advantage that the latest version runs smoothly with S/4. In addition, the product suite 11.4 offers customers numerous new security features - taking into account the CWE/SANS list of the top 25 security risks - as well as SAP Single Sign-On (SSO).

The software also supports the simulation of more than a dozen additional T-codes. Software from Winshuttle enables quick and easy automation of SAP uploads and downloads using Microsoft Excel.

Thanks to data governance, it also ensures higher data quality and optimizes SAP business processes using workflows and web forms.

Best virtual classroom

With Alfaview, SAP Live Class was awarded the coveted Silver Award by the renowned Brandon Hall Group. Every year, the best companies are evaluated by a panel of independent and experienced industry experts and analysts from the Brandon Hall Group based on the criteria of product design, functionality, innovation and measurable benefits.

Alfaview won the Silver Award for Best Virtual Classroom and Best Virtual Conferencing Solution in the Technology category.

Excellent SAP hosting in Leipzig

Arvato Systems has once again achieved "SAP Certified in hosting services" certification for its data centers at the Leipzig site, achieving the highest possible status of "excellent" for the first time.

The IT service provider from the Bertelsmann Group thus also demonstrates the highest quality for the operation of SAP applications in Leipzig. The delivery processes of IT service management (ITSM) and the entire SAP service portfolio were rated as particularly positive in the course of the re-certification.

The SAP certification was preceded by a standard, detailed test procedure lasting several days, in which the entire infrastructure and all security precautions were checked.

In the final one-day audit at the IT service provider's Leipzig data center, the SAP and infrastructure specialists were able to prove that all of the Walldorf-based software manufacturer's requirements for service and quality management as well as security and compliance standards were met.

Acceptance test with tight schedule

Allianz Global Investors implemented comprehensive acceptance tests including error management and troubleshooting on two continents in just two weeks with Panaya Test Center - automation and user-friendliness made it possible.

A thousand test cases, 40 business users at seven locations on two continents, and only two weeks to test a newly introduced SAP system for usability and acceptance.

Error management, troubleshooting and retesting included. What sounds impossible to most test managers, Allianz Global Investors mastered with the help of the automation and acceleration features of the Panaya Test Center - on time and without compromising quality.

Acceptance testing is designed to ensure that new applications are fit for purpose, support the business, work for the user, and are accepted by the user.

Although User Acceptance Tests (UAT) are an important and necessary phase of change implementation, they are often extremely time consuming and difficult to manage.

"Test managers often have a really hard time involving and motivating business users"

knows Jens Puhle, Vice President CEN & UKI at Panaya.

In addition, acceptance testing is rarely high on their list of priorities and often lacks the technical expertise to perform effective testing.

KGS also for non-SAP

KGS has added a new product to its solution suite: KGS WebAPI acts as a link between individual specialist applications and the KGS archiving solution established in the SAP environment.

The API is designed as a web service and can be connected independently of programming languages. This means that in future, any application can archive or search for documents and data in KGS ContentServer4Storage via web technologies.

The substructure of the non-SAP archive is the same as the previous KGS solutions in the SAP area and is characterized by high reliability, speed and performance.

Customer portals can also be connected via the new API; companies can set up any solution scenarios based on KGS's own licensing rules. A prerequisite for using the solution: documents are archived with a unique ID that can be used to find them again later.

The document can then be displayed or processed directly in the specialist application/customer portal. With the new WebAPI and the KGS ContentServer4Storage, KGS recently implemented an archive service for one of Germany's largest energy supply companies, which now provides any number of users with high-performance access to millions of documents.

Usage-based business model

SAP has introduced a new usage-based business model that allows customers to easily purchase and use the SAP Cloud Platform PaaS (Platform as a Service) offering.

In addition, the SAP Cloud Platform SDK for iOS will offer new functions in future so that company applications and business processes can also be accessed via mobile devices.

The new usage-based business model for the SAP Cloud Platform enables customers to configure and use platform services more easily and conveniently.

Companies can easily purchase cloud credits and quickly provide and activate the available SAP Cloud Platform services via a central cockpit. This allows them to use innovations flexibly and introduce them at their own pace.

The new business model also ensures transparency in the use of services. To this end, the consumption of cloud credit is measured regularly and reports and comprehensive billing analyses can be created.

This makes it easier and quicker for customers to determine the services they need for their applications and monitor their usage.

S/4-based lectures

Grand Valley State University and Winshuttle introduce automation in higher education around the business software SAP ERP: The software from Winshuttle, a specialist in application data management (ADM), will soon be used in lectures at Grand Valley State University (GVSU, Michigan, USA).

The aim is to deepen students' knowledge in the area of system configuration and trial operation of S/4 Hana. Students of the Seidman ERP program at GVSU are taught specialized knowledge about the configuration and testing of enterprise software.

Until now, they have been working completely manually in an SAP ERP system. But the tedious and mundane manual configuration and testing - such as uploading data or executing transactions in SAP based on the table-based use of data - detracts from the learning experience with concepts and techniques that are actually the subject of the lectures.

With Winshuttle, configuration tasks can be automated and optimized. This allows students to focus on the concepts rather than the mechanics of the tasks, developing and refining the skills they need to successfully build SAP ERP and S/4 Hana systems.

Better coffee service

A flexible field sales solution helped coffee company Bicafé expand its international business. The ZetesAres solution facilitates order taking as customers can easily access the entire product range on a tablet and the sales team has real-time access to critical customer data and promotional offers.

By supporting the MCL Mobility Platform, all apps and mobile devices are managed centrally. The solution was introduced in just six months. The flexible, agile app for field service Bicafé produces over 350 million coffee capsules a year, which are exported to over 20 countries via six subsidiaries.

To improve and drive business growth, Bicafé replaced its existing mobility solution with ZetesAres, an advanced mobile drive-thru sales software that optimizes merchandising, field sales and delivery processes.

In less than a year, Bicafé has already seen benefits such as more interaction with customers and higher sales thanks to the attractive, up-to-date product catalog. There was also less administrative work and fewer errors: the sales staff only enter the data once on their tablet and it is already available in SAP in real time.

Strengthened SAP and Microsoft profile

M-Files, a provider of intelligent information management, announces that Delaware, a global systems integrator, has decided to enter into an intensive partnership with M-Files.

Delaware brings particularly extensive experience with SAP and Microsoft solutions to the collaboration. Delaware has experience with a variety of popular business systems, including SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, SharePoint and Office 365, Salesforce and OpenText, which harmonize well with M-Files' system-neutral approach.

Z3 data access from SAP

The SmartExporter component DirectDart was successfully audited and certified by a Big4 auditing company with regard to compliance in accordance with IDW PS 880.

With the DirectDart component, Audicon's SmartExporter software offers the user the option of providing Dart data segments for the tax audit in the form of a Z3 data export without the need for implementation and manual maintenance within the company.

The certified SmartExporter component DirectDart is an alternative to SAP Dart that enables the user to easily provide data from SAP for the tax audit (Z3 data access).

From a single source

With SAP Application Support (oneAS), Oneresource has launched a new offering on the market. The aim is to relieve customers in their day-to-day business and win new customers.

Intensive work was carried out on the new product and the range announced weeks ago was optimized in order to tailor it as closely as possible to customer needs.

The company has now introduced oneAS and confirmed its goal of doubling its market share. Customers can benefit from oneAS because this service is the single point of contact for the delivery of all agreed services.

Networked process management

Since the beginning of the year, Allgeier IT Solutions has been offering its new Metasonic Suite to client companies. In this software, Allgeier has combined the existing systems for Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Input Management (Capture) and Business Process Management (BPM) into one product line.

The new suite therefore includes all solutions for document, invoice and contract management, long-term and email archiving as well as business process management in a common enterprise architecture. In an integrated environment, employees can process invoices and contracts, archive data and organize internal processes, for example.

Particularly in view of the increasing efficiency and competitive pressure, companies are thus able to continuously optimize and almost completely automate their entire information and process management.

No monthly SAP news should be disregarded.
