It can be used to accelerate training times in the area of deep learning by up to four times. This makes it possible to build faster and more accurate AI-based applications. Some key components of the new processor were developed at IBM's German research and development center in Böblingen near Stuttgart. These include, for example, a PCI Express 4.0 interface that delivers up to twice the speed of its predecessor, as well as new hardware features to support high-precision (128-bit) floating-point operations, which are especially important for high-performance scientific computing. Support for blockchain applications through power systems and improved computing performance per watt were also realized with the help of the German experts.

License management 9.0

At the end of the year, Circle Unlimited published version 9.0, a new major release of its document, contract and license management system. To this end, the company is introducing the field service management solution from MobileX throughout Europe. Until now, Yaskawa has used various tools in Europe to plan and manage its service technicians for commissioning, maintenance and repairs. In some cases, the dispatchers used Excel lists to plan the technicians' assignments. The technicians filled out their feedback on paper. As the company had decided in 2015 to standardize its heterogeneous ERP landscape across Europe on SAP, the service processes also needed to be modernized and standardized. The MobileX solutions were chosen because they allow a simple SAP connection and offer a wide range of functions that are ideally suited to Yaskawa's complex service process. Material logistics and the returns process play a particularly important role here.

No monthly SAP news should be disregarded.
