At 3500 universities and educational institutions worldwide, employees, customers and young talents learn about new technologies using Fischertechnik simulation systems. With this cooperation, Fischertechnik's factory simulations will become an integral part of the training content of SAP's two internationally active education networks, University Alliances and next-Gen. Pupils and students are introduced to Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things with Fischertechnik. The completely built factory simulation models simulate selected processes and robots of a modern factory. This makes complex processes clear in a small space. The pre-assembled models are controlled either with the Fischertechnik ROBOTICS TXT controller or with a programmable logic controller. This is another reason why the training models are ideally suited to illustrate Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things.

Transparent licenses

The new version of the DeskCenter Management Suite integrates SAP license management, Office 365 licenses and extends automation processes. Going live within two months was a pioneering step into the new database technology that is already making itself felt. The reasons for the rapid and successful project implementation are the clear division of tasks between the three companies at the kick-off in June and the pooling of interdisciplinary expertise. The Herne-based IT specialist RKU.IT provided the technical requirements and also supported SAP during the migration. From the sandbox system to the productive environment, both worked hand in hand and in close coordination with the customer.

SAP license management as a managed service

Snow Software, a provider of software asset management (SAM) solutions, is to cooperate with Oetker Daten- und Informationsverarbeitung (OEDIV), a company of the Oetker Group. In the SAP area, OEDIV will be able to use the Snow Optimizer for SAP to automatically identify typical signs of indirect use, duplicate or inactive users and, based on this, manage customers' licenses in such a way that the overall SAP license portfolio is used optimally. To this end, OEDIV offers newly developed services as a managed service for its customers in the area of software asset management.

Local service providers preferred

Providers in the Hana services environment now require more than just expertise in the implementation of business processes or the provision of corresponding resources. Rather, they must have strong industry and technology knowledge, with preference given to local providers of technology and services. With the third edition of the "ISG Provider Lens Germany - Hana Services", the ISG Information Services Group is once again providing concrete support for CIOs and IT managers in evaluating and selecting suitable providers. In order to structure the market relevant for the implementation of Hana, the new ISG Provider Lens not only looked at the aspect of in-memory databases and the associated technology aspects. Rather, it also considered the various applications based on it - essentially analytics (Business Warehouse, BW) and transactional applications (Business Suite and - as a substantial further development - S/4 Hana) as well as the aspects of the delivery model. In addition, the SAP Cloud Platform provided by SAP in the Hana context as a central integration platform is also important. The study also uses the size of the customer company as a differentiating factor, distinguishing between midmarket and large accounts.

Certified cloud service provider

Gisa has been confirmed as a certified cloud service provider (ISO/IEC 27017) in accordance with international standards. With the certifications, Gisa proves that all essential security requirements, technical and organizational measures for the protection and integrity of confidential data as well as the availability of services and systems are fulfilled. The certified ISMS comprises guidelines, regulations, concrete specifications, procedures and instructions that are constantly being developed and adapted to current requirements.

Leonardo Center network grows

SAP plans to expand its global network of Leonardo Centers by eight new locations: Next year, locations are to be opened in Berlin, Johannesburg, Moscow, Seoul, Singapore and Tokyo as well as in locations in China and Silicon Valley. They will follow on from the centers already opened this year in Bangalore, New York, Paris and São Leopoldo. Based on SAP's digital innovation system, the Leonardo Centers use both design thinking and co-innovation to act as a "front end" for customers and partners to drive their digital transformation. The SAP Leonardo Centers form a global network of interconnected physical locations that serve as a focal point for exchange on digitalization and co-innovation. At the same time, they offer access to SAP Leonardo Innovation Services. In the centers, Leonardo is presented with IoT, machine learning, blockchain, big data, analytics, data intelligence and the SAP Cloud Platform as key elements for digital transformation in order to make the term "digital" tangible. In addition, the SAP Leonardo Centers benefit from the connection with local and regional partner companies and build on a relevant industry focus. They therefore offer space for innovation in which customers and partners can use the available resources to prepare themselves for the digital future.

Robotic Process Automation

Software AG is intensifying its partnership with Kryon Systems, a provider of robotic process automation (RPA). Thanks to the integration of technical processes and systems into S/4-controlled business processes implemented by Cideon, companies can link their product data and commercial information with each other in a context-related manner. And, of course, process them efficiently. Users benefit from end-to-end PLM processes - from the initial product idea to service, even under the new S/4 Hana standard. Cideon develops and implements the integration of M- and E-CAD-based authoring systems into SAP PLM as part of the current ERP Business Suite and S/4. Cideon has contributed additional development resources for end-to-end product development, which flow into the compatibility of the products accompanying CAD integration.

Sustainability

Companies jeopardize their market position and future viability if they underestimate the issue of sustainability. Gaining the trust of consumers and investors is far more than a nice-to-have - it is crucial for a company's success. PwC has therefore presented the "Building Public Trust Award" for the second time. The five winners in 2017 include: SAP, Deutsche Telekom, BASF, Metro and Evonik. The judges chose SAP as the winner in the category "Best content in the DAX 30" in the past financial year. "The software group's report is clearly ahead of its time," said the expert panel. Year after year, the company proves to be a pioneer in the presentation of interdependencies. Economic, ecological and social aspects are considered equally. "In Germany, this is unique in this form," said Prof. Inge Wulf in her laudatory speech.

Add-on for service management

Realtech is providing an additional add-on for service management for the free dot4 cloud solution. It helps small and medium-sized companies to provide central business processes as services. A future-oriented Enterprise Service Management (ESM) can be set up on the basis of tried and tested functions for IT Service Management (ITSM). Since May, SMEs have been able to use the dot4 cloud solution to gain the digital transparency they need to service and automate their business processes. Just a few weeks after the launch of dot4, IT experts and decision-makers from around 600 companies have already determined their level of digital maturity. With the add-on for service management from dot4, users now have additional options for comprehensive servicing of the business model. Almost all operational services can be systematically cataloged and easily made available to employees or customers. "For many companies, dot4 is becoming the linchpin and anchor point for digital transformation in the cloud.
