With the automation of invoice management and the electronic archiving of all invoice-relevant documents and data, Mittelrhein-Verlag is driving forward the digitization of its administration. With Doxis4 InvoiceMaster, the Koblenz-based newspaper publisher is automating the processing of its incoming invoices and introducing a Doxis4 archive for the audit-proof storage of invoice documents and SAP data. The SER solution for invoice management includes invoice reading and invoice verification as well as an electronic invoice receipt book. In order to automate the processing of invoice data as far as possible, the SER solution is integrated with the leading SAP system. This means that the automatically read and validated invoice data can be transferred directly to the preliminary entry in SAP.

E-Procurement goes S/4

In one of the world's first innovation projects for a global service provider with over 12,000 employees, the connection of an e-procurement suite to S/4 recently went live. In the process, the previous procurement landscape of a US provider was replaced by a bundle of WPS4, Catalog Cloud and Meplato Business, thus laying the foundation for the digital transformation of procurement. Following the global rollout in over a dozen countries, Procurement will be able to use completely new, agile and innovative processes and functions. The interaction between WPS4 and Catalog Cloud not only enables shopping basket optimization across all connected content sources in one system, but also enables procurement to digitize its product range and supplier strategies and map them on a system-based basis. Meplato Business rounds off this picture with the strategy-compliant provision of coordinated product ranges in numerous European countries.

Recognized Expertise Partner

The IT service provider tts GmbH is the only SAP partner in the German-speaking world to be awarded the "SAP Recognized Expertise in SuccessFactors" qualification for all 4 HCM domains of the SuccessFactors Suite. SAP has thus recognized the successful work of tts with customers as well as the extensive know-how and many years of experience of the internationally active consulting company based in Heidelberg. "We would like to thank our customers for their trust and for constantly presenting us with new challenges," say Harald Weingartner and Alexander Woelke, Managing Directors of tts: "We know our trade, but it gets really exciting in projects such as supporting the split-up of the HCM landscape of an international energy group or the transformation of companies without any systematic HCM platform into the 'cloud age'."

Automated SAP order confirmations

The processing of order confirmations takes up a considerable amount of working time in purchasing, although it is actually only a matter of checking that what buyers and suppliers have negotiated has been implemented correctly by the suppliers. This is where the new Order Confirmation+ solution from Advanced Software comes in: With the help of the software, all incoming order confirmations are checked automatically and in the background against the open orders in the SAP system. If they match, they are automatically filed with the SAP order and the order is updated accordingly. In the event of discrepancies, the software informs the responsible purchaser and offers the option of making changes, contradictions or cancelations at the touch of a button.

Channel changers are more dissatisfied

Customers who have switched channels during their purchase decision are more dissatisfied than mono-channel shoppers. This is shown by the results of the new short study "smart.vernetzt.mobil. An outlook on the consumer behavior of tomorrow", which examines aspects of consumer purchasing behavior as well as the use and perception of cross-channel services. To this end, ECC Cologne, in collaboration with SAP Hybris, surveyed over 1,500 consumers on purchases in five sectors. While 75.3 percent of consumers are satisfied with mono-channel purchases in stores, satisfaction drops to 69.8 percent when switching channels from stationary to online. A similar picture can be seen in the other direction: among online-only shoppers, satisfaction is at 72.8%. If consumers switch to the stationary channel after researching online, only around 67% say they are satisfied.

New Hybris solutions

SAP has released a new version of its Financial Services Accelerator for the Hybris Commerce solution. With the release, banks and insurance companies can offer customers a quick and easy experience when opening an account, applying for a loan, requesting insurance and many other services, regardless of whether the interaction takes place in person, online or via a mobile device. "Digitalization has fundamentally reshaped the financial services landscape," observes Matthias Goehler, Senior Vice President and Head of Industries at Hybris. "Personal relationships and detailed advice have been replaced by customers searching online for the best option for them. To appeal to these price-conscious consumers, banks and insurers need to interact with them in a much more relevant way - the way customers want. The new Financial Services Accelerator offers cutting-edge features for an engaging online experience that will help the industry increase customer trust and loyalty and make the overall customer relationship more lucrative through cross-selling and bundled offers."

Digitization of personnel processes

Vantaio, an SAP portal expert from Mainz, has presented the latest component of its modular portal construction kit - the WorkflowManager. The tool, developed jointly with its partner Foxysoft, enables the establishment of innovative workflows for any processes in companies, particularly in the HR sector, while at the same time guaranteeing intuitive usability. For example, employees and managers can independently submit and approve applications (such as requests for parental leave or access cards) via an HTML5 web interface and electronic forms. Their status can be tracked at any time by all persons involved in the workflow. Pre-filled templates, automated checks during data entry and automatic transfer to the SAP backend system (e.g. HCM) reduce the error rate and ensure that no deadlines are missed.

IoT partnership

VMware and SAP are partnering on the Internet of Things (IoT). The goal is to create an integrated IoT solution that supports the deployment and management of IT use cases across devices, infrastructure, edge, cloud and application domains. The goal is to enable rapid deployment, scalability and on-time execution of IoT projects. "We are united by the goal of helping joint customers digitally transform their businesses toward software-defined enterprise architecture with innovative and simple solutions," said Mimi Spier, vice president, IoT at VMware.

Complete access to Amazon product range

The IT consultancy 2Bits has developed an SAP Expansion Pack Amazon B2B that enables companies to integrate Amazon Business into their SAP-based purchasing solutions. This gives buyers access to Amazon's entire range of more than 100 million products. The 2Bits Expansion Pack Amazon B2B also enables companies to take their company-specific purchasing guidelines and approval processes into account. Amazon Business is a service that supports companies of all sizes in meeting their procurement needs. Amazon Business combines the familiar benefits of Amazon with new, company-specific functions such as purchase on account, display of net prices, invoicing for millions of products and accounts for multiple users. With ERP and MES solutions, manufacturing companies typically have two systems at their disposal, one for business management functions and the other for production management. The guide answers the question of how the two systems can work together. The guide "MES and ERP systems as a cooperating or competing team?" takes a closer look at the requirements and solutions. Specific practical examples are used to illustrate how the core competencies of both systems can be used most effectively to optimize production.

ECM-S/4 certified

Doxis4 is the first ECM system worldwide to receive S/4 certification from SER for the archive interfaces ArchiveLink and ILM. This means future-proofing for all companies that are about to switch to the new S/4 generation. This means they can securely store their SAP documents and data in the Doxis4 archive even with S/4. Users can continue to use their existing archive solutions even after switching to SAP S/4. The archive interfaces of the Doxis4 iECM suite have successfully passed the demanding functional test scenarios for SAP S/4 Hana and SAP NetWeaver. Using the certified Doxis4 HTTPContentServer (HCS) interfaces for archiving via ArchiveLink and Doxis4 WebDAV Connector for ILM (Information Lifecycle Management), SER customers can securely store SAP documents and data such as print lists, orders or invoice documents (audit-proof), actively manage retention periods and thus fulfill legal requirements such as the GoBD. "We always support the latest SAP technologies at a very early stage. If you claim to support SAP S/4 Hana, you have to prove it: We have done so again with SAP certification. This gives our customers long-term planning security," explains SER Head of Technology Klaus Eulenbach.

Optimized master data

Together with its Swiss reference customer Franke, management consultancy cbs Corporate Business is presenting a new release of its Master Data Validation for SAP ERP & S/4 Hana 1.5 (MDV). MDV 1.5 is already being used successfully by the Franke Group. MDV is a comprehensive standard software for evaluating, monitoring and optimizing master data. Industrial companies can use it to improve their master data quality in the long term. The cost analysis of master data also makes the effects of poor data quality visible. Master data as a digital copy of real business objects is playing an increasingly important role in times of digitalization, S/4 Hana, Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT). High master data quality is the basis for efficient business processes.

Mobile maintenance and service processes

MobileX, a provider of field service management solutions, presents version 6.0 of its field service management suite. The new functions offer significantly improved user-friendliness through single sign-on in the mobile service and maintenance solution MIP for Field Service as well as direct image and barcode capture in the Windows client. The additional parallel use (DoublePlay) of the CrossMIP service app on smartphones or tablets for mobile order processing and status updates has also been optimized. The new version also supports Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update) and Android 7.0 Nougat. Version 6.0 of the Field Service Management Suite is available now.

Digitization fitness test

The SAP consulting firm Itelligence offers a free fitness check for ERP systems. The target group are manufacturing companies that want to know how well their IT system supports them in digitization and where they need optimization. Simple and cost-effective operation is no longer sufficient as a concept for standard business software (ERP). Instead, companies need to embrace digitalization. This entails changes to both the business processes and the IT systems that control them. After the test, the participating companies receive an evaluation by e-mail that shows them where they stand today with their SAP system and how high their optimization potential is. Companies that do not use SAP will find out whether their system still meets their requirements.

No monthly SAP news should be disregarded.
