The experts surveyed firmly expect B2B purchasing and sales to be increasingly handled via online stores and marketplaces over the next five years - traditional sales channels will not disappear, but will lose relevance,\" says research project manager Georg Wittmann. According to the experts, one of the main reasons for the positive development is that employees' private online behavior is now increasingly reflected in everyday business life. Online shoppers expect the convenience, speed and greater choice that shopping online brings in both their private and business lives. Last year, companies, especially large technology groups such as Google and Amazon, spent up to 27 billion dollars on internal research and development for intelligent robots and self-learning computers.<\/p>\n<p>A further twelve billion dollars flowed into AI externally in 2016 - i.e. through private equity companies, venture capitalists or as part of mergers and acquisitions. In total, this amounted to around 39 billion dollars, which is three times as much as in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of current external investment (around 60 percent) is going into machine learning (up to 7 billion dollars), with image recognition (2.5 billion to 3.5 billion dollars) and speech recognition (600 million to 900 million dollars) being other important fields.<br \/>\n<!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h4><b>Decoding the digital genome<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>In order to remain competitive, e-commerce providers should learn from online retail giants such as Amazon and understand the \"digital genome\" of their customers. Behind this are primarily compliance and regulatory requirements such as the EU Data Protection Regulation.<br \/>\n<!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h4><b>Cloud without a security plan<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>The smaller the company, the more likely it is to rely on a security<br \/>\nstrategy for the use of cloud computing.<\/p>\n<p>While around two thirds of companies with 500 or more employees that use or plan to use cloud services have a cloud security strategy, only around a third of smaller companies do.<\/p>\n<p>For example, 68 percent of companies with 2,000 or more employees have a cross-divisional security strategy or a strategy for individual divisions.<\/p>\n<p>For companies with 500 to 1,999 employees, the proportion is 61%. In contrast, only 35 percent of companies with 100 to 499 employees have such a strategy, and only 28 percent of companies with 20 to 99 employees.<\/p>\n<p>This is the result of a representative survey conducted by Bitkom Research on behalf of management consultants KPMG.<\/p>\n<p>\"Cloud computing is a basic technology of digitalization. Knowing full well that changes in the ERP market take time, there was still a need for action. Cloud computing will not stop at supplier relationship management.<\/p>\n<p>An IA4SP award went to 2Bits for the strategic step forward and the innovative start of an SRM discussion.<\/p>\n<p>IoT can hardly be missing from any presentation today. However, many users have not yet fully realized the enormous amount of data generated by IoT sensors. IoT is also big data and without suitable concepts for processing terabytes of sensor data in \"real time\", many Industry 4.0 projects will fail.<\/p>\n<p>The second award winner, Osisoft, not only has concepts, but also numerous reference projects on how industry can tame the flood of IoT data. Of course, Osisoft also received an IA4SP award for this innovative solution and concrete implementation. (pmf)<br \/>\n<!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h4><b>SAP Sailors<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>SAP and the Hamburg-based concept shipyard are extending their collaboration for a further five years with the aim of making sailing more accessible through SAP technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Konzeptwerft is providing a team of ten experts for the sponsoring partnership with SAP under the SailTracks brand.<\/p>\n<p>The common goals are to establish the further development of SAP technologies in sailing and SAP solutions in the international sailing world, to provide regatta sailors and coaches with tools and to make sailing more attractive to a wider audience thanks to modern transmission technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The SAP Sailing Analytics software was developed as part of the cooperation. However, only just over a quarter in Germany would bear higher costs for security-relevant new technologies.<\/p>\n<p>A \"generation gap\" is evident in all countries: the younger the respondents, the greater the chance of success for new mobility concepts. Of German millennials, 32% are interested in self-driving cars; in China, the figure is as high as 64%.<\/p>\n<p>\"On the one hand, Germans are seen as believers in technology, but on the other hand they are also rather aloof when it comes to visions of the future. The self-driving car is failing among German consumers primarily due to safety concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Here, manufacturers should provide tests and evidence that also strengthen broader trust in the technology and traditional brands in this country,\" explains Thomas Schiller, Head\/Partner Automotive at Deloitte.<br \/>\n<!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h4>Safety concerns prevail<\/h4>\n<p>72 percent of Germans feel that safety in autonomous mode is not yet adequate (South Korea: 81 percent, China: 62 percent).<\/p>\n<p>In Germany, however, the majority of consumers (51 percent) generally trust established vehicle manufacturers when it comes to new technologies - unlike the Chinese and Indians, who rely on new suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast to the US (+3 percent) and Chinese (+4.2 percent), German consumers are less interested in self-driving cars today than they were three years ago (-2.8 percent).<\/p>\n<p>\"The next Digital Agenda must draw up a program for the whole of Germany and weave together the digital patchwork\"<\/p>\n<p>says Thomas Schiller.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here you will find all articles from our popular \"SAPananoptikum\" section clearly listed.
