This provides greater flexibility to meet the specific requirements of individual customers - from cloud models to balancing mission-critical applications.

Power Systems servers also have the necessary stability to operate Hana in mission-critical environments. This is important when customers migrate core applications to SAP S/4 Hana.

Predictive failure alerts from Power Systems and Smart Memory can resolve potential problems before they occur and notify system administrators early that an automatic solution has occurred, avoiding downtime.

DMN modeling

MID, a provider of modeling tools for business processes, data and IT architectures, presented a new release of its modeling tool Innovator for Business Analysts: Users can use it to describe their business processes according to the DMN 1.1 notation standard. This was published by the Object Management Group (OMG) in June 2016.

DMN closes the gap in business process modeling from the design of a decision to its execution. Users are able to streamline their processes and make them more flexible, as business logics - on which decision models depend - can be developed independently of the business processes and integrated into existing process models. Dependencies between decisions can be visualized and their effects made transparent.

SAP Connected Parking

SAP has presented a solution designed to simplify the management of parking spaces for cars, motorcycles and trucks. Usage- and behavior-based billing makes it possible to design and offer tariffs precisely according to the needs and driving behavior of customers.

By mapping a pay-as-you-drive process using the ConVista UBI solution, products in the context of telematics for usage-based billing can be implemented quickly and easily.

The basis for this is a holistic solution approach from the transmission of telematics data to the transfer to an inventory and billing system. The high-performance real-time solution based on the Hana cloud platform is used to calculate the premium for a UBI.

Telematics data from the SAP HCP app Vehicle Insights and product data from the inventory and product management systems are used for this purpose. The calculated premium is then transferred to a payment system such as SAP FS-CD for further processing.

New company headquarters

The Heidelberg-based management consultancy cbs Corporate Business Solutions has broken ground for its new company headquarters in Heidelberg's Bahnstadt district.

A completely new building with around 450 office spaces will be built at Rudolf-Diesel-Strasse 5, on the corner of Speyerer Strasse.

The SAP consulting company with headquarters in Heidelberg and six locations in Munich, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Hamburg, Singapore and Zurich is thus creating space for further expansion: in particular, global transformation projects and the special cbs expertise for the digitalization of process landscapes based on SAP S/4 Hana are in high demand.

The new company headquarters is being built as a passive house and uses the energy sources available inside.

"We are making this investment in sustainability very consciously"

explains CEO Harald Sulovsky.

Machine Learning

SAP has unveiled three new initiatives that will make SAP enterprise applications even smarter and enable the partner network to develop machine learning applications for joint customers.

The activities extend across SAP's own solutions, partner programs and training offerings and will help to accelerate the use of machine learning in SAP's global customer base.

Firstly, SAP has presented new intelligent business applications. The picker has the picking instructions in front of them at all times and is guided safely through the warehouse by the system - without any devices or lists in their hands.

The integrated camera can also be used as a barcode scanner. Andreas Dürholt, Managing Director of Bitergo, explains how the Pick-by-View system differs from other solutions:

"The special feature of the Pick-by-View system is indoor navigation. The system can not only localize people, but also ensures that they can find their way through the warehouse independently."

The picking orders are generated via an SAP system, while the pick-by-view system executes the corresponding commands. The partner company Cpro provided the connection to SAP.

"Thanks to the SAP specialist's many years of experience and the great collaboration, this was an easy decision for us"

explained.
