Because effective collaboration is essential, especially for companies that often describe knowledge as their most important strategic resource, operate globally and live from their innovative strength.<\/p>\n<p>The report prepared by the department heads in <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-1x7ifxz7qhyhamypxx7zso2cbefhstxo\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-place\">Germany<\/span> reported need for action on core topics such as interdisciplinary networking, joint processing of documents or efficient task management confirms this.<\/p>\n<p>The great skepticism of German departments in assessing the environment is only partially justified. Because in terms of open communication culture or self-determination of the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-hcjb87p0k8wiga4e375c0feh7y41gjrq\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Employees<\/span> companies do not have to hide.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest obstacles are the pronounced security concerns and - also associated with this - above-average requirements for implementation. This typical German penchant for perfection is certainly understandable in certain areas.But it is also dangerous. Because social <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-uswlm687r18muo8s5skljvfan2mi05ij\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span> must develop, it cannot be planned perfectly.<\/p>\n<p>But those who wait and rely on bans until the environment is perfect risk falling behind in the competition.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The need for social <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-tgiob7zpmxm2jbfb03i7jfv2blknkbep\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span> departments report a high or very high need for action on topics such as identifying experts and knowledge (66 percent), joint document processing (61 percent) and promoting interdisciplinary networking (57 percent).<\/li>\n<li>But <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-wwk70aik52gnxn82u4lu28aci3b6rpvy\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-place\">Germany<\/span> Only 21 percent of departments have (partially) implemented SC projects - compared to 38 percent in the UK. One third of the respondents report initiatives in the test or planning phase. Almost every second department has not yet launched any initiative in this field.<\/li>\n<li>environment is critically assessed - the commitment of the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-13cu6txjcefu19sni4lihmzzs2bn5cef\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Management<\/span> missing!<br \/>\nRespondents in <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ijad2ifb1g8tdr8ufv5r3uk4pi4dxbxa\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-place\">Germany<\/span> They are also more critical than average in their assessment of the social<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-6scw94rd59g5yqlxjbz9bq59cf62yewb\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span>-For many criteria, the skepticism seems unfounded. However, in only eleven percent of German companies does the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-6hlzurzjwik0ky3fphmtcszghh1vubic\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Management<\/span> active - in the UK, this figure is 35 percent.<\/li>\n<li>Strategic planning and integrated solutions? In <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-v01oyekr6km73vz6rt8q2vce7z04wuxt\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-place\">Germany<\/span> often missing!<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-wk9agib7fdpas272adhai7gq3rx46lsk\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-place\">Germany<\/span> also lags behind in the practical implementation of social <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-1f37tyofdon075aye938hz66rlhc0uf6\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span> behind.Every second project in <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-mqx0lm2d5gifstvzsmhm8p74i7dyf9ni\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-place\">Germany<\/span> is not planned strategically for the long term; in many cases, various individual applications are used. In PAC's view, there is a lot of catching up to do here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visual Lessons for Social <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-5fgr4jjv7mi3749uri8iix3f5u7pxd6z\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span> The numerous flood relief volunteers in the German flood areas have been providing practical support in recent days. In the blog post \"Social <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-1des5j6vhnwu2qmx6gy9jbfys74bp0e9\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span>: Look at this city!<\/p>\n<p>What German business leaders can learn from Dresden flood relief workers\", our Dresden colleague Andreas Stiehler sums up the lessons that can be derived for business leaders:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Companies cannot avoid social media in the long term. <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-d3x08mfao2n8ugh4wi4pezft202ynqly\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span> around<\/li>\n<li>Social <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-rqvr5berclg4vc9moc24camn4wtkdpft\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span> Requires trust and a willingness to allow for changes in culture<\/li>\n<li>Who Social-<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-kron3sas9j87uojqsnakpbquhr98eejd\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span>-initiatives in the company without any alternative is depriving itself of the future.<\/li>\n<li>Bans are not solutions, alternatives must be created<\/li>\n<li>Social marketing and customer services require a social enterprise<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Our conclusion:<\/h3>\n<p>Any <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-cry2nmzbfjwejwfrejzzzgv54imjln74\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Social Media<\/span>-initiative is a wasted effort if the company does not act as a social enterprise. And this requires social <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-9g7m2faxehpbx1me3mh5m8ce01apoess\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>German companies need to be more open and proactive in addressing this issue. Proactivity does not mean mindlessly opening the door to networks, but rather social-<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-dq7b465tgl9e9nmwta1th74yzsz9wlx6\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span>-initiatives strategically, the use of corresponding applications by the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-5g5tl70v1kutjtssqx67pr285cilkpfk\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Employees<\/span> specifically, define rules and integrate social networking technically and organizationally into the processes.<\/p>\n<p>The <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-7u4foefdkmem2igg62fwtlpim76aztaj\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Management<\/span> has a special responsibility in this regard. It is not enough to simply launch new initiatives or pilot projects. Managers themselves must actively use the new opportunities - in other words: social <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-sh9gsvjz9v3n0f0xrtq2fimbfuwwv05g\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Collaboration<\/span> set an example.
