He is a speaker at the IT & Information Security Strategy Summit in Berlin.

Lack of awareness and isolated solutions

Safety precautions are often still not given a high priority at management level.

"Before investments are made, the child often has to fall into the well first"

criticizes Maybaum.

Another problem is that IT security solutions are often not well coordinated.

"These isolated solutions are not compatible with each other. The aim must be to create end-to-end interoperability between the IT security solutions."

"The only way to respond to multi-level malware is with networks. The most important topics at the event will include international cooperation, the Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0, standardization, data management and security. The M2M Summit and the associated exhibition also offer a wealth of exciting topics for users.

"We are delighted that we have been able to attract so many renowned names and experts to the M2M Summit," says Andreas Fink, Chairman of the M2M Alliance. "This shows how important the event is both at home and abroad."

Human Centric Innovation in Action

After Düsseldorf, the Fujitsu World Tour 2016 made its second stop in Germany in Stuttgart. On June 21, everything revolved around the topic of digital transformation at the International Congress Center.

More than 600 visitors came to find out more about big data and cloud solutions, mobile technologies and software solutions from SAP. Under the motto "Human Centric Innovation in Action", numerous keynotes, expert talks and the exhibition explained the opportunities, risks and best practices of digitalization.

As in Düsseldorf, the speakers in Stuttgart also used sport as a comparison. Instead of Formula 1, the inspiration here was soccer - on the one hand for the occasion, as the European Championship was in full swing. But also because the popular turf sport also has numerous parallels and links to the digital transformation.

Even apart from goal-line and referee cams, clubs, coaches and teams would hardly be able to prepare for an important match today without the use of digital tools.

The participants of the event were able to welcome former FIFA referee Markus Merk as a "key witness", who explained interesting perspectives on decision-making under pressure in his guest lecture and made it clear how the corresponding approaches can also be applied in everyday professional life.

Companies will face enormous challenges if they want to make the digital transformation a reality in all its aspects and dimensions as quickly as possible. Both Rolf Werner, Head of Central Europe and Chairman of the Management Board Germany, and Fujitsu CTO Joseph Reger made this clear in their keynotes.

At the same time, however, the speakers also showed how these requirements can be mastered and what needs to be taken into account.

Break-out sessions, intensive background discussions and, last but not least, the Hyper Connected Van, which was on show for the first time at the exhibition, made the last stop of the Fujitsu World Tour in Germany a series of highlights.

The main focus was on Hybrid IT, Mobilizing the Enterprise, IT Made in Germany, Business Centric Infrastructure, Hana-based solutions and - of course - the Internet of Things (IoT).

The security issue was not forgotten in Stuttgart either: visitors were able to try out Fujitsu security solutions live, such as the Fujitsu PalmSecure authentication system based on biometric technology, which authenticates users based on individual vein pattern recognition.

There was also a lot to learn about the end-to-end security solution Fujitsu Surient.

The goal is the digital education republic

To mark his 75th birthday on July 27, 2016, the academic students of "Entrepreneur Professor" August-Wilhelm Scheer hosted a celebratory colloquium on the topic of "University 4.0" at Saarbrücken University.

Five university professors, 30 university of applied sciences professors and over 100 doctoral students showed their gratitude and appreciation to their academic mentor and patron August-Wilhelm Scheer, who has trained several thousand students.

A panel discussion addressed the question of how Germany can continue to develop as a country of research and education in the digital world in order to achieve the necessary leading position that is so important for the country's economic success.

Prof. Scheer, who is internationally active as an entrepreneur with the eight companies of Scheer Holding with 1000 employees, brings his experience from science and business to help shape the political framework for the successful digitalization of education.

Together with Federal Minister Prof. Johanna Wanka, he is Chairman of the IT Summit Platform "Digitalization in Education and Science". On the fringes of the celebratory colloquium, Scheer then spoke about the challenges in the education sector:

"Unfortunately, we in Germany are lagging behind other comparable countries when it comes to the digitalization of our education system. This needs to be fundamentally changed. The realization of this is growing.

Foundations, individual universities, but also the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research have picked up speed. With its focus on education, the IT Summit 2016 comes at exactly the right time to give the rocket the right boost for the digital transformation of our education system.

It's not about introducing technology for its own sake, but about taking advantage of the major advances in digital education, such as time and location-independent learning, greater individualization of learning forms and content, and greater internationalization.

The use of the border-free supply of learning content via the Internet makes education a free good. It is therefore important to adapt this most important resource that we have in Germany, namely our smart people and a functioning education system, to the future.

We like to describe ourselves as a country of education, and the next stage would be the digital education republic of Germany."

Scheer had this idea back in 1996, when he founded IMC, a successful e-learning company in Europe. With his companies, the active 75-year-old now also has his sights set on digitalization.

Digital stumbling blocks

90% of companies in the DACH region assume that the competitive situation will change fundamentally in 2020 as a result of digitalization. However, not all companies are prepared for this.

Only just under one in two companies in Germany has already started planning and drawn up a digital agenda. In Switzerland, the figure is 60 percent.

At the same time, companies are confronted with a number of obstacles when it comes to actual implementation. Determining the digitization potential of their own company, keeping costs from getting out of hand and closing training and development gaps are cited as stumbling blocks.

These are the results of the DACH study "Digital Agenda 2020" by CSC. In Germany, improving the IT platform (77%), investing in training and further education (76%) and improving processes (74%) are high on the agenda for implementation.

When it comes to the obstacles that stand in the way of getting started with the digital agenda, every third company in the DACH region is concerned about financing issues. In Germany, retailers in particular are complaining about financing gaps.

Furthermore, deficits in the training and further education of employees are recognized - in Germany, especially in industry. The managers surveyed were positive about the general openness of employees when it comes to digital innovations.

However, there are still significant differences in this question of corporate culture in Germany (15 percent), Austria (21 percent) and Switzerland (27 percent).

The path to intelligent networked production

Intelligently networking production and generating added value as a result - that is the goal of many companies. However, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular often do not know how to approach the topic.

In the new study "Industry 4.0: Fields of development for SMEs", Fraunhofer IPA analyzes the obstacles and needs of SMEs from a technical perspective and identifies fields of development.

The evaluation revealed that SMEs see the inflexibility of their IT systems as the greatest difficulty in meeting new market requirements, such as a sharp increase in the number of product variants.

Other obstacles include poor planning capability, unclear customer requirements and the insufficiently used or non-integrated database of existing production. The survey also showed that SMEs are still unsure about implementing Industry 4.0.

"We found that the majority of companies select production IT systems on a trial-and-error basis rather than developing an overall strategy or considering lifecycle costs"

explains Felix Müller, project manager at Fraunhofer IPA.

The digitalization of the value creation system was identified as a basic prerequisite for intelligent, networked production.

"Only when all relevant inventory machines are connected to an information system and a consistent, near-real-time database can be generated can further measures be taken"

knows Felix Müller.

Building on this, the company is in a position to leverage the potential of other areas of development, such as the automated production of personalized products.

Two days of PLM practice

PLM experts will meet in Heidelberg at the Customer Experience Day on September 27 and 28.

The digital transformation of the product development process is on the agenda of many companies. ILC from Bexbach will be demonstrating new possibilities for a holistic transformation of the product development process across PLM and ERP boundaries at the software and consulting company's Customer Experience Day on 27.09.2016 in Heidelberg.

Presentations from the corporate practice of Benteler Automobiltechnik, Diehl Aircabin, Rittal, Sartorius, Mahle Behr, Magna Automotive and Aesculap are the focus of the event.

Key topics include the digitalization of the product development process, product structure and variant management, change management, product master file, master data management and test and validation management, as well as live demos of industry-specific reference solutions. On the second conference day "4Pep Live", on 28.

The end-to-end digitized product creation process will be demonstrated at the trade fair on September 9, also in Heidelberg, using industry-oriented solutions for the automotive industry, medical technology and mechanical/plant engineering.

In addition, numerous demo points with industry-specific reference solutions will be available to participants as a contact point for live demos, exchanging experiences and networking.

Together with its partner Prostep, the organizer ILC will also be presenting integration solutions between its own 4Pep solution and common PLM systems such as ENOVIA V6, Teamcenter UA and Windchill.

"Product development processes can finally be mapped across system worlds. A quantum leap for transparent and efficient product development"

says Oliver Quirmbach, Managing Director of ILC.

Here you will find all articles from our popular "SAPananoptikum" section clearly listed.
