Thus <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-u59gt71z92g9hjrg1o3svmqf44ti1y7m\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span> in January first <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-4yvjji82kl8vx73wnwaf8jcqtblu3433\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Customers<\/span> with the Business Suite on <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-pxn5xdy1txo5n2l95g1fan8atawi3jed\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Hana<\/span> present. The performance was heterogeneous from a regional perspective.<\/p>\n<p>In the Americas region, sales grew <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-zgahff0y85gpd7nft2lpcvzpm5o6sskf\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Software<\/span> and <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-122w7yfim0jrs6qxx3bkt0aj5oav8r4l\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Cloud, but native!<\/span>-Subscription revenues increased by 49 percent (51 percent adjusted for foreign exchange). In EMEA, growth was still 13 percent (15 percent adjusted for foreign exchange), while sales in Asia\/Pacific\/Japan (APJ) declined by seven percent adjusted for foreign exchange.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-wmv4vhkj4camqy70rh4kprrhzx0okgsy\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span>-Performance in EMEA<\/h3>\n<p>SAP had a good first quarter in EMEA with nine percent growth (adjusted for exchange rate effects) in license, maintenance and <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-siv0f8959lneibxhtxiiypq45ow0zqjd\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Cloud, but native!<\/span>-subscription revenue. Part of the growth came directly from the acquisitions of Ariba and SuccessFactors.<\/p>\n<p>The almost exclusively organic growth in license revenues of nine percent is also very satisfactory, particularly in view of the economic environment in Europe. The performance of the countries and subregions within EMEA followed the trend of 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The so-called emerging markets of Russia, the Middle East and Africa continue to grow very rapidly, with over 20 percent in license business. Northern Europe grew more strongly than Southern Europe, mainly as a result of strong business in the UK, Sweden and the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ffly8xbd8mtkckfea6y93s3b6slew0xd\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-place\">Switzerland<\/span> is attributable to the SAP's performance in <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-6ts7xmkg9knh8v3q0ai4szxakqbmbi5d\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-place\">Germany<\/span> can be described as solid.<\/p>\n<p>As expected, sales in Southern Europe were somewhat weaker, but here, too, a low single-digit license growth achieved a trend reversal compared to previous quarters.<\/p>\n<p>The <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-kynyyoi6sf033mjua3anpb6p0xg8x63h\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span>-<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ufxgt8bxum8jy1j52s6tpk8vfio8t4oc\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Management<\/span> assumes that the software business in Southern Europe has bottomed out and expects the market to recover slowly.<\/p>\n<p>From an industry perspective <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-brtu46kq5wa0ts2qm8nzu9q9595js2el\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span> achieve a good performance in the financial services (banking and insurance) and retail sectors. Both sectors are showing themselves to be in line with the new <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-r9a7xvlz5dzzt20nqjpzdzohjfv4vlfv\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span>-The company is open to SAP's Hana and Mobility solutions. UK-based home improvement retailer Kingfisher, with more than 78,000 employees, is a good example of SAP's momentum in retail.<\/p>\n<p>The company has a corporate license for <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-zrmei2kymxtzmqfb2k9ykmnpwwpx13d8\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Hana<\/span> purchased and will all <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ds8du0s6v3aqbe8so1yg6egvnit859x8\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span>-solutions there <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-09jncq9yfrdsluxy3gml09ll1uxve78c\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">migrate<\/span>. Kingfisher's goal is to improve the customer experience through faster self-service.<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-yak87jwbr5rvlky6oof83ueu0952o9rh\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Applications<\/span> with improved functionality and accelerate supply chain collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>The <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-1l4fot2swqgpzybm48vrqlrijc4mwcgf\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span>-Sales in the consumer goods and service industries were comparatively weaker.<\/p>\n<p>From a product perspective, Hana and Mobility were the growth drivers in EMEA, and the same applies to the rest of the world. While solutions for business units such as HCM, <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-45sw178au46crsvd1h5xwlkgyxcifv8f\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">CRM<\/span> and SCM generated good sales, demand for classic <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-2nsozvqm96eztbteh2eovm2w66uzi7aq\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ERP<\/span>-suites weaker.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-ujacaefbmy8kvowfzpc5qtn38wd0udum\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Hana<\/span> already contributes a significant portion of European license sales, with demand coming from a variety of sectors. Nevertheless, the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-bauzu6gvti0mrfvaiw2jj3w8v4kl53be\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span>-<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-2lc3rlwx7s7lh9bflr7byh3ly7ak004w\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Management<\/span> the greatest potential for <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-2d5mqr230i5nfupp0qh77gxc6pbx5vfr\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Hana<\/span> as a platform for core<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-uaydfpyf67etbed5onizv6s0q92x866t\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">ERP<\/span>-systems, analytical solutions, and B-to-C<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-mqukkyboyqrn0scb77osaqt78ypd5otb\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Applications<\/span> from SAP or partner companies.<\/p>\n<p>Besides Kingfisher can <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-cz8e5cq9ap74k8h90bbjnslxen1993hg\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">Bosch<\/span>-<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-budnb79vpps0pqc0i6kjoo98bmrqmnf1\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">Siemens<\/span>-Home Appliances (BSH) with more than 46,000 employees as an example of strategic <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-7zm0ambbz1crvc1e4lw0vli73ujzrpe9\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Hana<\/span>-projects can be considered. BSH <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-onaqvwoolnshvelwehvgll9kymogr1uj\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">migrates<\/span> the entire Business Suite installation on SAP's in-memory<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-dl6bpup673rcaf0jpbu0fzon4gwmxr7r\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Technology<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>From a channel perspective <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-0arilcind17knl3fpmc7xssb9zjav8vr\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span> indirect sales via the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-guxay617r3pj7lbpkeo0omzwgylhtlp7\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">OEM<\/span>-Strengthen the channel. In the past, SAP's <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-i9iesfy3fj9q6su72lsygsbhuglj7cmg\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">OEM<\/span>-business is primarily limited to BusinessObjects solutions such as Crystal Reports.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, the focus <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-i72fu54gryhrn43wc48mvpyes034t3pe\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span> due to the increasingly important middleware and infrastructure<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-y4vpjv081f9tu5k9arqr7jwrckxgs5hi\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Software<\/span>-products to new <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-n4jp6m8tl2sf8easb0n1h0vq1in6mggk\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">OEM<\/span>-partners especially in Data Management and Mobile Infrastructure. These OEMs can serve both ISVs and existing <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-b3kbtixpw2w1y4v0xubuf6th4j61txjt\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span>-<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-c378dynrp6vkp6jet5ohq287osuorvg6\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Customers<\/span> be like Ericsson.<\/p>\n<p>The company sells <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-2zg60lnhhywrso4c4j83u8aamqwczqk3\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">Sybase<\/span>-products as part of its own solutions. In order to further develop this channel <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-q664i265rwbxujzia77dq47qha9kwc54\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span> an EMEA <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-q5l4uqxly5b1hczn3ipzc5umnilw3mzm\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">OEM<\/span> Account Management Team launched.<\/p>\n<h3>Conclusion<\/h3>\n<p>SAP's performance in the first quarter of 2013 showed clear differences between the new and the classic <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-16m0chqv92r3k8mi4jeaxhn7ma2xdbrh\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span>-business. The pure <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-07i2jnyea7rj6xejzapsv781jmnhvizv\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Software<\/span>-sales (excluding <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-xhh2eibg9f9aj74wgnufwoz551v0crov\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Cloud, but native!<\/span>), which has been the traditional <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-gk3je6d7yvqbdhyjz6crzo6norxg9eih\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span>-business grew by only five percent after adjusting for exchange rate effects, whereas the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-uzyz0ngtzmirnjak0y6mad2gv55kdnb9\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Cloud, but native!<\/span>business achieved triple-digit growth rates.<\/p>\n<p>Also the mobile and the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-nl4ccquy6faq7fcr9w6qhd48qtarn64m\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Hana<\/span>-business were strong. The development of <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-6xmxsidj1a7qsjpn1vz1o3hq3y9vs26t\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-person\">SAP<\/span> in the first quarter of 2013 corresponds to the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-oufcue2qddh841z5xf1sgcqphnjqmp1a\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">IDC<\/span>-forecasts for 2013, according to which between 2013 and 2020 90 percent of the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-2jnu2yudaj4edxl42bd6putnze6k5zd9\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">IT<\/span>-market growth from the \"3rd Platform\" products.<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-i4b8efxui4sa984s5mvihoatild0362t\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Technologies<\/span> will come from, compared to 22 percent last year.<\/p>\n<p>According to <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-mq2ncodyjtdfr8ctl30q5hk6qj4ouo56\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">IDC<\/span>-In SAP's opinion, the biggest challenge will be to renew the core application business as the most important source of revenue on the \"3rd Platform\". For this reason, the topics of Business Suite on Hana and core<span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-x4j5mum2w66djzteius3qphq3hos0csd\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Applications<\/span> in the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-4cbk76nz40m1dn00r5tzrrf1212zikgs\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Cloud, but native!<\/span> so important to be able to generate long-term growth.<\/p>\n<p><em>Henry Morris is senior vice president at <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-6hwmt7mmr7gq4705s2ob4h0c1j82kr15\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">IDC<\/span> and on a global level responsible for <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-1em3dc4gnst4y97ny9bavueusc8wigc6\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">Software<\/span>- and <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-r15lf968jba664hr93no2n3t0b9ob6i7\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">IT<\/span>-Services-Research as well as for the <span id=\"urn:local-text-annotation-a75hef9rk36hc7j9elsj9bcrzgv70zaq\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">IDC<\/span> Sales and Marketing Advisory Groups.
