IT spending rises by 1.4 percent<\/b><\/h4>\n

The IT research and consulting company Gartner forecasts global IT spending for 2017 to total USD 3.5 trillion, around 1.4 percent more than in the previous year. Last quarter, the growth forecast was still at 2.7 percent, the main reason for the reduced growth rate being the strong US dollar. \"The strong U.S. dollar has reduced the 2017 forecast by about $67 billion,\" said John-David Lovelock, research vice president at Gartner. \"We expect currency fluctuations to be reflected in the 2017 corporate numbers of U.S. multinational IT vendors as well.\"

Location Switzerland<\/b><\/h4>\n

Tangro has established its own branch in Switzerland. At its location in Bern, the software specialist for automated document processing in SAP offers its Swiss customers an easily accessible local presence.<\/p>\n

\"Tangro\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Tangro has been able to recruit Lukas Hostettler as Managing Director. With immediate effect, he will be available at the Bern office to answer questions about Tangro's range of services. \"Switzerland is an important market for us with growing demand for our solutions for automated document processing. We have therefore decided to set up our own company location in Switzerland in order to establish ourselves even more strongly here,\" says Andreas Schumann, Managing Director of Tangro.
\n<\/p>\n

Godfather and Master of Disaster<\/b><\/h4>\n

A DSAG symposium on Hana in St. Leon-Rot near the SAP headquarters in Walldorf brought the whole disaster to light:
\nThe Hana code is worse than ever!<\/p>\n

\"Godfather\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Over 200 existing SAP customers accepted DSAG's invitation to find out about the current status and use of Hana in practice. The in-memory computing database invented by Professor Hasso Plattner and now further developed by SAP Chief Technology Officer Bernd Leukert is currently in a very poor state.<\/p>\n

The error rate of the continuously delivered Hana versions is growing. From the point of view of DSAG and existing SAP customers, quality is declining sharply and users are running from one critical error situation to the next.<\/p>\n

The answer from Chief Technology Officer Leukert is not really helpful: SAP provides a software update approximately every 30 days. This may be well-intentioned, as some of those affected explained on the sidelines of the DSAG event, but in practice it is not manageable.<\/p>\n

Installing a new release every 30 days is impossible to organize for most existing SAP customers.<\/p>\n

Classic ERP applications need a stable core and a robust database. Of course, you can discuss \"DevOps\" approaches in the development of mobile apps and IoT, where new program code is often created on a weekly basis.<\/p>\n

For a Scrum and DevOps development environment, even a 30-day cycle, as SAP is currently using with the Hana code, can be advantageous. However, this requires the right IT infrastructure.<\/p>\n

At the DSAG conference in St. Leon-Rot, it also became known that central tools for the administration of the Hana release update are missing. There is still no search function with a categorization including suitable filters that finds and evaluates the existing impacts (bugs).<\/p>\n

Because SolMan is no help here either, the planning of release changes and updates remains a matter of luck and has to be implemented manually by existing SAP customers with a great deal of effort.<\/p>\n

There was no sign of an end to this sad development at the DSAG symposium on Hana. One participant said that according to the SAP roadmap, we will probably have to wait until the beginning of 2020 until all Hana components have been programmed and consolidated and made available in a new release - perhaps Hana 3. SAP reorganizes Executive Board<\/b><\/h4>\n

SAP is expanding the areas of responsibility within the Executive Board. Robert Enslin and Bernd Leukert, among others, will take on additional tasks in future. New members of the Executive Board are Adaire Fox-Martin and Jennifer Morgan. Steve Singh, Head of Business Networks and Applications, left SAP at the end of April.<\/p>\n

22 percent more from the cloud<\/b><\/h4>\n

Companies are increasingly obtaining their software applications from the cloud. This is also confirmed by the latest results of Techconsult's ICT benchmark.<\/p>\n

\"Software<\/a><\/p>\n

Software from the cloud enables maximum flexibility thanks to its simple scalability. Last year, software as a service accounted for 18% of total software expenditure by companies. This means that four billion euros were invested in software as a service in 2016. Almost half of this was spent on solutions for collaboration and communication. 20 percent is spent on CRM software.<\/p>\n

In the coming year, the amount spent on applications from the cloud is expected to increase by 25%. The proportion of total software investments made in the cloud is therefore likely to increase to 22% this year and rise by a further five percentage points in 2018. In absolute terms, the market for software as a service will almost double within the period under review from 2015 to 2018.<\/p>\n

According to the studies conducted, the location of the data center in Germany plays a major role for companies when it comes to deciding on cloud computing. Companies are becoming increasingly confident in both data security and data protection compliance.<\/p>\n

The possibility of mobile access and low administration costs are further decisive criteria that are rapidly increasing the use of cloud solutions.
\n<\/p>\n

Double gold<\/b><\/h4>\n

\"Nominacher<\/a>Process-Mininer Celonis was honored with the German Stevie Awards 2017 in gold in the categories \"Company of the Year\" and \"Best New Product\".<\/p>\n

The company is honored with the golden Stevie Awards in the categories \"Company of the Year: Computer Services and Computer Software\" and \"Best New Product or Service: Software Big Data Solution\".<\/p>\n

The German Stevie Awards are the most versatile business prize in Germany and have been held for the third time since 2015. They were founded in 2002 by US businessman Michael P. Gallagher after he lost his job in the wake of the Enron scandal.<\/p>\n

They have become the most coveted business awards worldwide for recognizing outstanding achievements by companies and experts.
\n<\/p>\n

Saxony-Anhalt's IT has the highest proportion of women<\/b><\/h4>\n

\"Women<\/a>The Saxony-Anhalt IT Industry Association has announced that Saxony-Anhalt has the highest proportion of women in the German IT industry at just under 20 percent. At SAP partner Gisa, this proportion is even higher at over 20 percent.<\/p>\n

With around 700 employees, Gisa is one of the largest medium-sized IT employers in Germany.<\/p>\n

\"We are looking for the best IT specialists. Women or men, we make no distinction. Women are just as good IT experts as their male colleagues\"<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The company therefore supports many initiatives that promote young female talent in IT. These range from Girls' Day and the Summerbyte to the company's own dual study programs.
\n<\/p>\n

Game changer artificial intelligence<\/b><\/h4>\n

AI solutions already have the necessary technological maturity to significantly increase the efficiency of processes, accelerate innovation and change the way organizations make decisions. The challenge now is to embed AI in the overall corporate strategy.<\/p>\n

\"AI\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Artificial intelligence (AI) has already arrived in German companies. Seven out of ten managers also expect AI to have a major or very major impact on corporate strategy by 2025.<\/p>\n

These are the key findings of a recent study by Sopra Steria Consulting. In almost every second German company (46%), artificial intelligence is a matter for the boss and management is driving its use forward. The respondents are already noticing significant changes in the form of cost effects in processes and procedures in almost all areas of the company.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the influence of AI on corporate strategy is still relatively low for more than one in two respondents (57%). According to the managers surveyed, however, this will change significantly in the future: More than 70 percent of decision-makers predict that AI will have a large to very large influence on corporate strategy for their company from 2025.<\/p>\n

\"Artificial intelligence can become a real game changer in the next ten years by accelerating innovation and enabling completely new business models\"<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/p>\n

AI: More than chat bots<\/h4>\n

Currently, AI is mainly used in the form of chat bots, where robots provide simple information via chat windows.<\/p>\n

The biggest areas of application for the future are seen primarily in intelligent automation technologies and digital assistants: One in two see automation (49%) as having the greatest potential for business development, while 43% rely on digital assistants.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
