As reported by NDR1 Niedersachsen, the branch is to be completely closed by the end of 2017. This will affect 89 employees. SAP has announced a comprehensive redundancy plan for them and has held out the prospect of continued employment at the sites near Heidelberg and Munich.

Abap drain

The European Patent Office has granted Virtual Forge a patent for a new method for data leak prevention (DLP) in SAP systems. The new method, which is based on Virtual Forge's CodeProfiler for Abap security software, identifies the outflow channels of sensitive data in the Abap source code.

The so-called static DLP analysis from Virtual Forge therefore starts much earlier than other methods that only monitor SAP data outflows at the possible exit points from the company network. It proactively detects the points in the Abap source code that attackers could use to extract sensitive data from the SAP systems, either by fraudulent intent or accidentally by employees. As a result, customers receive a test report with the identified vulnerabilities in the SAP source code as well as specific recommendations for action to eliminate them. "SAP applications are increasingly becoming the focus of hackers, which increases the likelihood of attacks," says the patent specification from the European Patent Office in Munich (EPO). "Virtual Forge's DLP method follows an innovative approach that offers unique added value for the security analysis of business applications." Dr. Markus Schumacher, Managing Director of Virtual Forge, adds: "The granting of the European patent shows how innovative our DLP approach is for SAP security. It protects an important component of our offering and thus strengthens our market position."

Access management in SAP

SAP partner Dormakaba has introduced a new version of its EACM (Enterprise Access Control Management). In addition to efficient access organization, the solution now also offers time recording integrated into the SAP system. The "Kaba EACM Time" module ensures an end-to-end automated time management process from the recording of working times through to payroll accounting. Employees' attendance and absence times are recorded quickly and easily at the Kaba multifunctional terminals. The data is checked for plausibility and posted in the SAP ERP Human Capital Management (SAP ERP HCM) solution via the standardized HR-PDC interface of the SAP system. The "Kaba EACM Access" module enables customers to control access to buildings, areas and rooms directly from SAP ERP and combines organizational, personnel, authorization and access management within the OM module of SAP ERP HCM.

Application certification

Snow for ServiceNow Express receives application certification from ServiceNow. With the certification, ServiceNow confirms that Snow for ServiceNow Express has successfully passed integration, interoperability, security and performance requirements in a series of tests. The certification also ensures that best practices were applied in the design and implementation of the Snow for ServiceNow Express application. Snow for ServiceNow Express is one of the first of the recently supported Express integrations to be certified for the ServiceNow Store. For organizations, the solution offers two key benefits at once: cleansing inventory and configuration management database (CMDB) data and the ability to reduce overall software licensing costs by up to 30 percent. They can also populate the CMDB and repository in ServiceNow Express with data from disparate sources - safe in the knowledge that vendor names, application titles and application versions will be used consistently.

Invoice processing

Project "Electronic invoice processing in SAP with OCR invoice recognition and invoice approval workflow": EDG Entsorgung Dortmund is implementing
automatic SAP workflows for invoice processing. SAP add-ons from InPuncto should ensure fast invoice recognition and invoice approval for paper and e-mail PDF invoices. Thanks to the agile project approach, the conception phase was an integral part of the implementation. A sheet with a specific barcode is now inserted between the relevant invoice pages and the attachments for processing the invoices and attachments. "Thanks to the investment in the optional OCR training workstation, the OCR recognition rate for electronic invoice processing is now well over 90 percent," reports Bernd Engelhardt enthusiastically.

Banking partner

Innobis is once again the system service provider for the banking cooperation. Nine development banks have entrusted the Hamburg-based SAP and IT service provider with the maintenance and expansion of the joint SAP-based system platform Abakus, including the newly developed customer portal. For the first time, Innobis is also the application manager for the productive online portals for the digital processing of funding applications. These are currently in use at four of the nine funding institutions. The powerful, tried-and-tested MCC platform for efficient material logistics now has a manufacturing integration that supports a transparent transition from 3D design to manufacturing. The aim of the solution is to bring design and production processes closer together. The following example of a turn/tilt fitting is a component for the manufacture of windows. This component is manufactured fully automatically and consists of around 350 individual parts. The specifications for production therefore require the corresponding data quality. The starting point for the process is CAD models and assemblies, which are stored and managed in SAP in a structured manner by the design department using the MCC (Material Control Center).

Mobile processes

Xando has released the new version 3.0 of its Mobile Connector and Asset Management - the successful products for mobile SAP processes. In recent months, market requirements have steadily changed towards standardized and universal deployment options for mobile SAP applications with the greatest possible scalability. Many other processes, such as the inventory of a technician's vehicle stock, can be flexibly integrated. The application is also available cross-platform in the browser or, if desired, as a hybrid application.

Fourth location

The SAP logistics and automation specialist Swan is opening a new office in Altenstadt an der Waldnaab. "The opening of the branch in Altenstadt an der Waldnaab marks another milestone in our corporate strategy," explains Managing Director André Nowinski.
