The flexibility of the ERP system to integrate data from cyber-physical systems (CPS) into the ERP environment is rated as sufficient by 46% of the study participants. Many ERP providers consider it important to record and process the data generated by CPS at production level.

However, many perceive the high volume of data associated with Industry 4.0 applications as problematic. Providers are responding to this challenge by expanding their business intelligence and business analytics functions.

The Fraunhofer IML market study shows that ERP systems will continue to play a central role as a data hub and integration center for companies.

The study provides an insightful overview of the current assessment of ERP providers with regard to future functions and features, the role and relevance of ERP systems and the development of the ERP market.

School of Design Thinking in Cape Town

In mid-March, the University of Cape Town (UCT) officially opened the first Design Thinking School on the African continent.

The Potsdam experts from the School of Design Thinking at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) are supporting the development and expansion of activities at the Cape Town site.

HPI Director Prof. Christoph Meinel and Prof. Uli Weinberg, Director of the Potsdam Innovation School in Cape Town, were among those present at the celebrations.

Human intelligence

Wouldhile the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning is currently being described everywhere, the CEOs of many technology companies are also concerned about another problem - namely whether the global labor market will provide enough human intelligence in the coming years.

As part of a recent survey of 148 tech CEOs worldwide, PWC asked which skills the digital working world requires from employees.
