New office building, new name<\/b><\/h4>\n

With the groundbreaking ceremony on March 2, 2017, IT2 Solutions started the construction of a new office building at Debyestra\u00dfe 3 in Leipzig. The software company is thus demonstrating its commitment to the Leipzig location, where around 60 employees have already been working in rented premises for more than five years.<\/p>\n

\"With an investment of more than 3 million euros, we are creating around 80 jobs in a modern office building in our first campus of its kind\"<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nCloud is booming<\/b><\/h4>\n

Compared to 2015, the proportion of cloud users in companies rose by 11 percentage points from 54% in 2016. In 2014, it was only 44%.<\/p>\n

This is the result of a representative survey conducted by Bitkom Research on behalf of KPMG among 554 companies with 20 or more employees.<\/p>\n

While there used to be a large gap between large and small companies, the proportion of cloud users has now evened out considerably.<\/p>\n

In companies with 20 to 99 employees, cloud usage increased by 12 percentage points to 64% in 2016. In companies with 100 to 1999 employees, it increased by 7 points to 69%.
\n<\/p>\n

In large companies with 2000 employees or more, the proportion of cloud users is 67% (down two percentage points).\"Sapab<\/a>
\nBranch office in Singapore<\/b><\/h4>\n

Datavard is expanding into Asia. With a branch in Singapore, the software and consulting company aims to further expand its global presence.\"Sapan<\/a><\/p>\n

Datavard intends to develop new markets from Singapore and establish itself as a specialist for analytics, data management and system operations in the SAP environment. It is the eleventh international branch in total.<\/p>\n

Until now, the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region was still a blank spot for the SAP partner, although the Asian IT market in general and the SAP market in particular have been growing extremely dynamically for years.<\/p>\n

cbs employees collected for the Deutsche Tafel e. V. aid organization, which supports around 900 local food banks in Germany.<\/p>\n

A considerable amount was raised, and the company cbs ended up doubling the sum of all donations received. The result: a total of 14,640 euros flowed into the Tafel's account.<\/p>\n

Understanding Industry 4.0<\/b><\/h4>\n

With the Werker 4.0, the Cologne-based Auto-ID company Panmobil has presented an individual glove scanning system that allows barcodes and RFID to be \"touched\".<\/p>\n

In the rough and tumble of everyday logistics and industry, people sweat, parts break or get dirty. Which worker on the shop floor wants to put on their predecessor's glove, even if it is the latest scanning technology?<\/p>\n

Currently available barcode and RFID wearables have one decisive disadvantage: the fixed glove that cannot be freely selected.<\/p>\n

\"Sapan<\/a>For this reason, the basic concept for the Worker 4.0 is individual and lightweight basic glove models. These are available in the right material (leather, rubber, latex) and in different sizes for every area of application.<\/p>\n

Each one is durable and hard-wearing. This means that every user receives their own personal glove, adapted to their area of work, which can be easily interlocked with the other two technical components.<\/p>\n

Connecting to smart glasses and pick by voice makes industry and logistics fit for automatic data collection in the future use of Industry 4.0.<\/p>\n

In combination with the proven Panmobil software EMMware with Scouttechnology, all captured barcode or RFID data is transmitted wirelessly to the SAP system.
\n<\/p>\n

Young talent top, start-ups and investments flop<\/b><\/h4>\n

The land of engineers and inventors is still unfamiliar with the new digital world.<\/p>\n

\"Sapan<\/a>The current Deloitte study \"Digital competitiveness - where does Germany stand as a business location?\"<\/a> identifies strengths and weaknesses in the key areas of talent, start-up culture and investment in an OECD comparison.<\/p>\n

It is clear that although Germany is very well positioned in terms of the talent pipeline and is also highly attractive to international specialists, it currently has a rather small pool of IT specialists.<\/p>\n

Germans are hesitant when it comes to starting a business and see more risks than opportunities: self-employment is not an attractive career option in Germany, which makes it difficult for digitally oriented start-ups to develop dynamically.<\/p>\n

Last but not least, investment in digitalization potential and solutions is significantly lower than in most other OECD countries. In this respect, Germany is far behind the leading group.
\n<\/p>\n

What makes an ERP system suitable for Industry 4.0?<\/b><\/h4>\n

The topic of Industry 4.0 is becoming increasingly important for providers of enterprise resource planning (ERP). 71% of the ERP manufacturers and resellers surveyed are already developing their software solutions for Industry 4.0 applications.<\/p>\n

This is the conclusion of a recent study conducted by the Mittelstand 4.0 Competence Center Dortmund in cooperation with the Supply Chain Engineering department of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML.<\/p>\n

As part of the market study, the researchers surveyed 40 German, predominantly medium-sized ERP manufacturers and partner companies. The flexibility of the ERP system to integrate data from cyber-physical systems (CPS) into the ERP environment is rated as sufficient by 46% of the study participants. Many ERP providers consider it important to record and process the data generated by CPS at production level.<\/p>\n

However, many perceive the high volume of data associated with Industry 4.0 applications as problematic. Providers are responding to this challenge by expanding their business intelligence and business analytics functions.<\/p>\n

The Fraunhofer IML market study shows that ERP systems will continue to play a central role as a data hub and integration center for companies.<\/p>\n

The study provides an insightful overview of the current assessment of ERP providers with regard to future functions and features, the role and relevance of ERP systems and the development of the ERP market.<\/p>\n

In mid-March, the University of Cape Town (UCT) officially opened the first Design Thinking School on the African continent.<\/p>\n

The Potsdam experts from the School of Design Thinking at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) are supporting the development and expansion of activities at the Cape Town site.<\/p>\n

HPI Director Prof. Christoph Meinel and Prof. Uli Weinberg, Director of the Potsdam Innovation School in Cape Town, were among those present at the celebrations.<\/p>\n

As part of a recent survey of 148 tech CEOs worldwide, PWC asked which skills the digital working world requires from employees. In the survey, 97 percent of CEOs stated \"creativity and innovation\".<\/p>\n
