Cloud Disruption in Germany<\/b><\/h4>\n

\"Sapanopt<\/a>The use of cloud computing is advancing in leaps and bounds in companies of all sizes and in all industries in Germany.<\/p>\n

This is not only true for large companies. Medium-sized companies are also increasingly putting aside their reservations. IDC expects a rapid expansion of widely visible cloud initiatives.<\/p>

\"Fullsize\"<\/a><\/div>\n

60 percent of the companies surveyed are currently still in an early phase. They are engaged in pilot projects, are pushing ahead with individual initiatives in individual departments or have not yet defined a cloud strategy.<\/p>\n

This situation will change significantly in the next 24 months. Then just under two-thirds of companies will use cloud computing extensively in their businesses, ultimately moving ever more strongly towards a cloud-first strategy.<\/p>\n

The use of cloud computing is thus a fundamental response to digitization, which 52 percent of companies see as a key challenge.
\n<\/p>\n

\nHow smart living is becoming an export hit<\/b><\/h4>\n

The VDE recommends intensifying cross-industry cooperation between companies in the smart living segments and closely interlinking the approach of business and politics in a \"Smart Living Business Initiative\".<\/p>\n

German companies are global leaders when it comes to intelligent components and devices. Applications and services are still lagging behind. This is where US companies such as Google, Apple and Amazon are currently ahead.<\/p>\n

\"What puts us ahead in international competition is intelligent networking across system boundaries and levels. German industry must succeed in jointly developing new services and business models and establishing them with international appeal.<\/p>\n

HR Campus wins SAP MEE Partner Excellence Award 2017<\/b><\/h4>\n

HPI chief criticizes US entry ban<\/b><\/h4>\n

\"Sapanopt<\/a>Prof. Christoph Meinel, Scientific Director of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), believes that the entry ban imposed by the US President puts research collaboration at risk.<\/p>\n

HPI researchers are also affected by this controversial measure. For example, a doctoral student who has been researching in Germany for many years is not allowed to travel to the USA and take part in the annual HPI Stanford Design Thinking Research Workshop.<\/p>\n

\"We at HPI are proud of our long-standing collaboration with Stanford University\"<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

says HPI Institute Director Professor Christoph Meinel.<\/p>\n

The relationships are close and many research colleagues are in regular contact. It is therefore particularly painful that esteemed members of the research team are now being denied entry to the USA.<\/p>\n

\"The ban on citizens from seven Muslim countries entering the US is a major blow to international research programs and cooperation\"<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

says Meinel.<\/p>\n

Science thrives on openness to the world. The decree directly affects a doctoral student at HPI who has been in close contact with the USA for years and had planned a one-month research stay in February 2017.<\/p>\n

Despite having a valid visa, she will now not be able to accept the invitation from Stanford University. The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) and Stanford University have steadily intensified their collaboration over the past ten years.
\n<\/p>\n

Suse Innovation Award 2017 to QPCM<\/b><\/h4>\n

Suse hosted a Partner Summit at the beginning of February and exclusively invited channel partners from the DACH region to the BMW Welt Business Center in Munich to exchange information and opinions - and awarded the Suse Innovation Prize 2017.<\/p>\n

Overall, only those business partners who have successfully placed Suse solutions on the market were honored. Q-Partners (QPCM) was awarded the innovation prize. Managing Director Guido Hoepfner commented:<\/p>\n

The long road from Silicon Valley to St. Veit<\/b><\/h4>\n

comments Christian Rupp, spokesman for the digital Austria platform, on the results of a survey conducted by Dell EMC.<\/p>\n

Most entrepreneurs spend 10 to 30 percent of their departmental budget on digital transformation. Contrary to this, 25 percent stated that they were not aware of the budget spent on digitalization.<\/p>\n

Among other things, information overload and data security concerns were cited as reasons for not engaging with digitalization.
\n<\/p>\n

Innovation from shadow IT<\/b><\/h4>\n

\"Sapanopt<\/a>Almost two thirds (62 percent) of managers in Austria see the pioneering role of the IT department in the strategic management of technologies dwindling.<\/p>\n

Other specialist departments are taking the lead in strategic management into their own hands, making technological decisions and thus driving innovation.<\/p>\n

The decentralization of IT brings numerous business benefits: new products and services can be brought to market faster (65%), companies have more freedom to drive innovation (60%) and respond to changing market conditions (63%).<\/p>\n

The fact that other areas besides the IT department also claim responsibility for IT and technology resources has a positive impact on personnel development: employee satisfaction is increased (67 percent) and young talent can be recruited more easily (65 percent).
\n<\/p>\n

2016 the year of ransomware<\/b><\/h4>\n

The past year was undoubtedly dominated by ransomware. The criminals, who use blackmail Trojans to encrypt their victims' data and only release it again for a corresponding fee, increasingly targeted companies.<\/p>\n

The blackmailers' approach is becoming increasingly sophisticated and perfidious. The specialists at Fast LTA, a manufacturer of products and services for storing large volumes of data with integrated data backup, have compiled the global impact of ransomware attacks to date in an infographic.<\/p>\n

For example, a particularly difficult to detect wave of attacks took place at the beginning of December 2016. Correctly addressed and grammatically correct emails were used to target HR departments. The attached data in the emails, which were infected with malware, made specific reference to actual job advertisements at the respective company.<\/p>\n

In 2016, 62 new ransomware families were developed and the Cryptowall ransomware Trojan alone caused damage of 325 million US dollars. Too few and outdated protective measures make it difficult to prevent infection.<\/p>\n

Companies should therefore focus on a mature backup strategy so that systems can be restored and a ransom payment does not have to be made. Unfortunately, criminals were able to extort 209 million US dollars in ransom money from ransomware in the first quarter of 2016.\"Sapanopt<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
